Intolerant of Truth
City Journal ^ | September 21, 2015 | By Heather Mac Donald

Criminologists at the University of California beware: disseminating crime data could put you afoul of university governance. The politically appointed regents of the ten-campus UC system are devising “principles against intolerance” that would regulate university speech and behavior and could threaten a large range of academic inquiry, including crime research. The effort shows how a therapeutic agenda has taken over the traditional educational and research functions of American colleges.

The impetus for the “intolerance” initiative was an alleged rise in anti-Israel and anti-Jewish incidents on UC campuses. In February 2015, some UCLA students questioned whether another student with ties to Jewish organizations could serve impartially on a campus judicial board. In response, the regents asked the UC administration to compose a “statement of principles against intolerance”; the UC provost presented a draft at a regents’ meeting last week at UC Irvine. The regents criticized the principles for not explicitly mentioning anti-Semitism but didn’t object to their substance. Indeed, one regent called them a “nice statement.” While the next version will undoubtedly incorporate a reference to anti-Semitism—which had been omitted out of a desire to be “inclusive,” according to provost Aimee Dorr—the draft’s main ideas and language will almost certainly remain the same. . .

When truth is revealed at the Judgement it will be a very bad day for many.

"While the next version will undoubtedly incorporate a reference to anti-Semitism—which had been omitted out of a desire to be "inclusive"""

again: " ... which had been omitted out of a desire to be inclusive ...

Do their brains do somersaults when they think/write this stuff? The bizarre but flagrant contradictions these people are capable of ... are they aware?

Winston sank his arms to his sides and slowly refilled his lungs with air. His mind slid away into the labyrinthine world of doublethink. To know and to not know, to be conscious of complete truthfulness while telling carefully constructed lies, to hold simultaneously two opinions which cancelled out, knowing them to be contradictory and believing in both of them, to use logic against logic, to repudiate morality while laying claim to it, to believe that democracy is impossible and that the Party was the guardian of democracy. To forget, whatever it was necessary to forget, then to draw it back into memory again at the moment when it was needed, and then promptly to forget it again, and above all, to apply the same process to the process itself.
The left regards 1984 as a handbook, rather than a warning.

For a long time, not just now, the left has been censoring research findings that it does not like. Even left-wing researchers are not permitted to deviate from what the left wants “facts” to be. Back in the 1960 (or was it ‘50s), a research found certain IQ correlations and was attacked for it.

Exactly ... and that's exactly what I was thinking of - thank God they made us read it back then. I wonder if they still do read it?

Question though: When one of these people writes "excluded anti-Semitism in order to be inclusive' ... are they aware that they are saying 2 + 2 = 5 and don't care because it serves their agenda - or do they really not know what they are saying?

My suspicion is that goes to the saying that all liberals are either ignorant or evil: The leadership knows and is evil, and the followers ... they are just mimicking the simple line dance, because it allows them to be/feel 'included' ... there's that word again, with not a critical thinking bone in their boneheads.

And that's probably what it is with the liberals ... they just want to be part of the borg. Anyone who doesn't want to be part of the borg is the enemy. What the borg is for ... doesn't matter. Those people are to me merely a different, dangerous species.

I think it is quite clear that they are referring to their Muslim students. Any declaration against anti-Semitism is a defacto declaration against them.

Yeah, I get that ... but the question is, are they aware of the logical contradiction.

The question is whether these professors, student organizations etc ... they are either

  1. Trying to put one over on people, trying to slip one past people or ...
  2. They are totally oblivious to what they are saying/writing/professing - oblivious that it is double speak.
it's an important question given that what we are witnessing is the heart of the age old cycle of a civilization going about destroying itself, committing suicide. The question is are those engaging in the suicide simply looking to gain something and don't care that they are injuring something, even if they don't yet realize it's themselves, or do they actually believe that sticking a sword in their belly is healthy, good and wholesome, that it will improve the planet, that they are not slicing out their own intestines. Or ... are they just mindlessly copying dance steps because if feels good, oblivious to their gain/loss or anyone else's.

I suspect a spectrum/continuum at one end of which is total unconscious stupidity and ignorance and at the other, pure conscious evil.

Actually, back in the 60s it would have been Arthur Jensen (U. California, ironically), later the Herrnstein and Murray Bell Curve book, along with Philip Rushton, Hans Eysenck, and others. Murray continued with other books that rub that raw nerve.
