After they charge him. As to SSS, he was on public lands frequented by other hunters and hikers. Remote, but in a Wisconsin sense. There are towns within 5 miles or so. Presumably friends know where he’s planning on hunting. Possibly even someone else there. Though the somewhat dramatic description is a once in a century occurance, it could be true. And it’s certainly possible he was attacked by a wolf, if so reporting it probably makes sense.
Scary. We have wolves in GA because there are wolves in NC and I’m sure they don’t know how to read the state line signs. But they are red wolves which are smaller. Although my sister said they did have a large grey wolf walk through their property one day when they lived outside Waynesville, NC. They have a Pyranees and it was larger than the dog. That’s a big wolf.
I think Kelleson meant that the wolves would back track him and attack again.
I doubt seriously he was attacked.
More than likely he walked up on a kill the wolves had ripped apart and the wolves were eating.
The wolves may have growled at him and taken a step toward him to warn him away, but there is no way possible he was attacked by 3 wolves without getting bit up.
If he was actually being attacked by 3 wolves and he kicked at one, the other 2 would have been on top of him from behind.
That’s the way they hunt and they are very good at it.
