Vice President Joe Biden is expected to announce whether he will run for president in the next seven to 10 days, according to CBS News.
Two of the three sources CBS News cited said the vice president is leaning toward running.
ADVERTISEMENT Several Democratic donors who have met with Biden also told CBS News they came away with the impression that he would run.
The sources say Biden will sit out the first Democratic primary debate Oct. 13 even if he announces his candidacy before then.
A spokesperson for the vice president did not comment to CBS News on the report.
A poll released earlier this week found Biden would be the most popular Democratic candidate if he entered the race.
Forecasters say Biden would likely take more support away from front-runner Hillary Clinton than surging candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), tightening the race for the Democratic nomination.

The media will portray him as an elder stateman, an accomplished VP while continuing to call Trump a clown, buffoon, and unaccomplished. All Biden has ever done is feed at the government trough all his life. He has never done anything positive for this country. But, leave it to Americans to be so stupid they will eat up this crap.

What will he run on? Obama’s lackluster record, or against it?
And if he runs against it, then he will be running against himself! If he runs on it, then he will get lukewarm support because the old two-terms and done scenario dogs him.
He is also an old white male with little appeal to the hard left.
That is if he survives a vindictive Hillary that will run full “female” and make it a sexism election.

All hell will break loose from the Clinton side when this supreme act of Obama admin betrayal occurs. Unless Hillary has decided to simply give up which is unlikely Joe Biden running will produce a Democrat cvil war. Also Mr. touchy feely will neutralize any claims to the women’s vote. Its a very bad thing for Democrats that Joe run. Now if he did pull off a primary win he would have appeal to unions in a way that only Trump could counter. The Clintons will not take this a second time. They will have the long knives out like we’ve never seen. It would be interesting to see the a man who had brain surgery going up against a brain surgeon. We have so many potential ironic combos with the addition of Biden. If Biden had a normal ego I’d be skeptical of his jumping in but the guy is ego central station only slightly behind O.
He is too arrogant to decline, and Shrillary is bleeding out too much to be their safe establishment pet.
What’s the point of entering the race a week before the first Democratic debate and then refusing to take part in it?
Will they leave an empty chair or podium on the debate stage to remind everyone that there’s another major Democratic candidate in the race who’s too cowardly to attend?
For weeks Joe Biden has known there would be a debate in mid-October, so he’s had weeks to prepare for it, and if he thought he could win the debate, or even win enough hearts and minds to boost his campaign, wild horses couldn’t prevent him from appearing before twenty million people to show how wonderful he is.
So obviously he doesn’t think he has much to offer. Which is likely to be corroborated every time he steps on a stage and opens his mouth, with or without the usual foot in it.
Agreed on all points. Gonna be fun! This is the first election cycle I have enjoyed in many years.
