(Does someone need a functional RPG or gattling gun? That gets to what is arms. I think in this that the citizenry should be allowed the same arms given to authorities, namely law enforcement, otherwise the right is diluted or meaningless). In a word, yes, when the regime starts bringing in battalions of UN troops to enforce illegal laws, or sending Homeland Security around to round up dissenters (that's you and me, folks).

Should we preclude some people from arms? Of course, for mental impairment, felons, ALL non-citizens, and Democrats/RINOS for good measure :)Refer to the final two sentences of post #60, and add this: Whoever should not be armed should not be running around loose.

The Second Amendment guarantees a fundamental right that belongs to all law-abiding Americans. The Constitution doesnt create that right it ensures that the government cant take it away.See the final two sentences of post #60 regarding the law-abiding part. If they shouldn't be armed, they shouldn't be running around loose.

History, common sense and reliable data should be the three-legged stool on which legislation concerning gun ownership might be based. Instead,..See Barry, you negated your argument with the word, "Instead." Why, because "History, common sense and reliable data," makes the rest of your piece moot.
