Still trying to wrap my head around the fact that the MSM did not offer any pushback against the objective, forensic assertions regarding typewriters and such. I mean, if Rather was on track in terms of truth, then this is the arena where they had a battle on their hands. But like Nancy Pelosi, they just bumbled on in their la-la land, as they continue to do to this day, making wholly unfounded assertions in the interest of political gain. Suck to be them. Thankfully most of the American people aren’t them. Only about 1/3.

There is nothing -- NOTHING -- like a FreeRepublic live thread. Harry nailed it in his interview, that there's an eclectic gathering of experts - patriots all - and to watch the analysis of what is being observed and commented upon in realtime is breathtaking. I'd put the collective IQ of a FR live thread up against anyone.

Pride of place goes to TankerKC who immediately questioned the authenticity, as the timeline I posted earlier reveals. That lit the fuse. Howlin was the great facilitator. Harry "Buckhead" MacDougald then provided the necessary expertise to definitively discredit the forgeries, once the documents were made available for examination.

Damned proud to be a FReeper. Now pony up to the FReepathon to keep this site alive and thriving.

I pulled out my Father's USAF records (27 years) and mine (10 years)that night and could not find a single document that was in the style of Rather's documents. All 702’s were taught how to correctly write OER’s and recommendations and have the officer sign them and Rather's documents were not in standard USAF protocol. That night was classic.

I recently had a convesation with my father in law who is a raging liberal. A commercial or something for the movie came up and he mentioned something about the documents, not being forgeries and I described to him exactly how I was able to reproduce them myself, and how it was an obvious forgery by someone too damned lazy to even bother typing them up on a typewriter. If the documents had actually been typed, even on a modern typewriter, it would have provided enough room for doubt for the media to have just held ranks. Luckily for us, they weren't and it was so easily demonstrated by anyone who was willing to actually try.

It was a great night to be a freeper. That would be a good movie. To watch real time as a group of 300,000 active member took down a pre-packaged media story by 5 partisan media hacks.

Everybody lets the NYT off the hook, but they had made this a coordinated attack a few weeks before an election. This is media at its absolute worst.

I remember that night like it was yesterday. I was lurking because I had been arguing with people on a triathlon forum about leave of absence and flight time rules. (The libturds over there couldn't understand why Bush-or any pilots- didn't work a 40 hour week.) Some guy messaged me and said, "Hey look at this over on Free Republic..." I had never heard of Free Republic! So I was up all night lurking here and that other site ( that will not be named as he turned Obamabot in 2008. But the name is something about a color and something about a sporting type ball.) I had forgotten they called us the "Pajamahadeen."

I lurked here for about a week or so before I finally joined up. Cannot believe it has been 11 years. I also can't believe they're still trying to pass those docs off as real...I guess they figured it worked with the Obama birth certificate, so why not?

I was here lurking when this happened and remember reading the thread where the fake document was discovered. I lurked here for a long time before joining. I was a libtard slayer out on the wild, wild, internet back in the day, lol.

Freerepublic was a great resource for separating fact from fiction when it come to news information and it still is.
