IMHO student loan forgiveness WILL happen.

There are just too many people who would go and vote for it. Obama knew this when he took control of them. It’s an absolute “Get Out Of Jail Free Card” to buy one election anytime it was absolutely critical to the Democrats to do so.

I know some rather Conservative people who made the mistake of co-signing school loans for children who can’t/won’t pay them back, and are now stuck. They can’t get out from under the debt, even through bankruptcy. Some have told me they’d have to vote for a Dem if it were proposed. It’s their only way out.

It will also be sold as a big stimulus to the economy. Realtors, the auto industry....the number of people on K Street lining up to lobby for it will be immense. It’s a looming tsumami that you and I, who paid ours off years ago, will not be able to stop, my FRiend.

Who is going to pay for Bill and Hillary’s $500,000 college speech fees if tuition is free?

1 trillion a year is a lot!

Our situation....

The trades are one very viable option. We chose college instead... for now.

So far, no loans for my son’s college but we are counting every penny. Extra expensive because no one is smart about it — the credit card mentality — and are okay with huge loans. It is insane!

My son is working on a business/engineering degree. He had a talent for pottery in High School and even received a scholarship. We declined the scholarship (a chunk of “free” money) and insisted that he get a marketable degree (which we are paying for versus the free money scholarship). Our son is on board and is working hard and doing well. As they say: “we are in it for the long haul.” But isn’t easy.

It would be especially frustrating if we find out years and thousands of dollars later that the feds made education free and waived all loans.

No doubt that a free education will come with a price and much higher taxes for everyone. Even for the people who paid their own way or didn’t go to college or went into the trades.

Not fair at all and in their frenzy to offer free stuff, the Democrats don’t realize that they are hurting the hardworking, honest, taxpaying, middle class, American the most. The folks that they pretend to be for.

The Democrats should rename their party either The Thief Party or The Santa Claus Party. I like The Thief Party myself. A good percentage of their constituents are parasites.

no. there’s MORE than enough.

Only one out of five nephews and nieces took a major that was worth something.

And even that’s not completely true because he went on to law school on full scholarship. Kid is sick smart. Has offer that are twice what i’m making at 47.

one out of five is not good odds. and i feel it’s the norm.

“Afrocentric, weaves related, anti black lesbian, white privilege and their effects on white women’s hair style” is not a good major.

they never did care.

maybe monetary incentives to take real majors, but that’ about all that should be offered.

it is true that you do need a college degree to get an office job not remotely related to your major.

i took management in college, a waste. Then took three month grsphics course and started at 10 an hour, went to 35 an hour in two years, and got hired full time.

Free college, however, is absurd.

Wondering why college is so expensive? Maybe a little supply and demand but people are not smart about it. Mostly because it can be financed through a loan. It is not unlike free health care in that if a person doesn’t feel the pain, because someone else is paying, they are less likely to be frugal and more likely to be wasteful. That someone else who is paying is the same person, years later ... plus interest.

We are just caught up in this whole massive mess and hoping to survive.

That is why Hillary will be the next President.

Santa Claus is very popular in this country.

Every one wants the shiny new gifts under the table.

“Trying to explain how nothing is free is tantamount to brain surgery these days.”

Lol! You’re absolutely right! Then, even if you can find one of the gibs-me-dats that sort of grasps the concept, frequently they’ll attempt to change the discussion to how it doesn’t matter anyway, because the gov just prints more money and the corporations are thieves, etc., and to some degree, they are correct. If the fed reserve can *print* billions out of thin air, devaluing every dollar in every pocket and on every computer screen, the banks and all whom they give it to actually are sort of getting it for *free*, except that it isn’t free since it devalues the dollars in our pockets.

If you can get that through a libtard’s head, or a gibs-me-dat’s grey matter, try entering a discussion on why raising the minimum wage doesn’t work out. LOL

For 50 years people on our side have been trying to prove and establish that the Democrats can be beaten by talking about all the excessive spending. But the fact is it doesn't work, it doesn't persuade anybody to not support or vote Democrat because they're never aware of having to pay for any of it, be they taxpayers or recipients. They're not aware of having to pay for any of it. They never see the tax revenue that's collected from them in the first place, and they certainly aren't aware how it's allocated.

Visual images of the dreadful consequences of socialism must be used instead.Sometimes a picture really is worth a thousand words.
