Well, I guess there’s no point in spending money to deal w/the middle east when we could be using that federal spending to save the planet by investing in crony green companies. What good is the middle east to us if the planet is destroyed?

Make no mistake Putin isn’t in the area to “kill ISIS” (neither are we, thanks to our leadership, quite frankly but that’s beside the point). Putin is there to prop up his pal Assad. If he kills a couple ISIS all the better but he (Putin) has just been itching for a reason to get into the fight and Obummer’s (in)action against ISIS has given him more than enough reason.
If we had a real leader (who cared about our military) we wouldn’t have to be leaving the area because of a lack of support equipment in the area. We would be staying there to let the ex-KGB thug know, we are in charge not him. This only will embolden him more.
I know some on FR seem to idolize him because he wrestles bears or whatever but the man is a godless monster who dreams of old Soviet-style state control and world domination. He’s not my, your, or the friend of anyone who values freedom and peace through American strength. He’s all to happy to embarrass our president. It doesn’t matter that he deserves to be embarrassed.
Maybe this is what Obama meant when he whispered to Putin to wait until after he was re-elected.

We’re not really pulling out, we have a heck of a significant military presence there besides carriers.
In fact we just deployed additional F-22s to the UAE a week ago, which probably isnt a coincidence. There have been some funny stories from prior Raptor deployments about them scaring the bejeezus out of the Iranians by “just appearing” alongside their F-4s over the PG.
My prediction is about 80-85% Pro US and the rest followers...

All right then I happily stand corrected. I just hope Putin still recognizes our “significant military presence there”. I seem to recall a post on FR a few days ago about some Russian planes flying near ours as we completed some bombing runs. If true it seems any respect he has for our military might is quickly evaporating.
There’s definitely a lot of brinkmanship on Putin’s part. But he’s as rational as they come and he doesn’t want to start a fight with us.
In the meantime we’re getting to suck up all sorts of good data on some of Russia’s newer military capabilities like the Su-30, Su-34 and those long range cruise missiles.
In fact, chances are we’re being somewhat aggressive if not provacative back at them. Just to get them to reveal their capabilities and see if they can pick up on ours. Having some Su’s run close intercepts on our F-15s or F-16s works to our benefit if those Su’s are being stalked the whole time by F-22s without the Russians ever realizing it.
Everyone knows obama is a communist, so why is it surprising that he is backing down to Putin?

Putin wants to prop up his buddy Assad? How about, Putin wants to (re) establish Russian land-based hegemony in the traditional region of the "great game" by aligning itself along the Shia crescent. By doing so, this threatens US backed Sunni states that underpin the petro-dollar. Taking out the reserve status not only destroys US ability to finance its global military reach, but also lights a fire under long suppressed domestic social problems.
Secondly, carriers are only good against two different kinds of targets: other carriers at sea, and land based operations against weak opponents. Carriers are sitting ducks against land based operations if the theater has access to the kinds of sophisticated missiles either Russia or China can deploy.
Thirdly, the USA is a military empire. We've had an excellent run enjoying a standard of living far, far in excess of what we actually economically produce. But like all things, time has a way of slowly eroding supposed firm foundations. Our bluff has been called, our weak hand exposed. The smart money understands this fundamental truth. It's why the elite don't care about immigration and the maintenance of so-called American cultural virtues. It's done, and the only people who can't/won't figure it out are those who simply don't have the capacity to understand the true nature of events.
Bet the swabbies on those ships are pissed about turning tail. I am sure they just love potus, their commander in chief. /s
As to the lack of resignations; I ceased correspondence with long time friends from my army days when they took civilian jobs helping to kick Christians out of Kosovo. (arming up the KLA in their own words.)
The acid test comes when the replacement group starts toward the area and Putin tells Bambi they aren’t welcome there.
In addition to Afghanistan, it appears Climate Change must be spreading elsewhere. Keep an eye on that ships destination.
