Cruz Says Trump Supporters Will Soon Back Him (Meet the Press)
NBC ^ | 10/17/15 | Leigh Caldwell

Posted on 10/17/2015 2:58:18 PM PDT by VinL

Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz said Donald Trump's campaign has been "immensely beneficial" to his own campaign but added that his supporters will soon turn to him as they become "more educated."

"I think Donald's campaign has been immensely beneficial for our campaign and the reason is, he's framed the central issue of the Republican primary as, who will stand up to Washington," [sic] Trump told "Meet the Press" moderator Chuck Todd.

"Well, the natural follow up if that's the question is, who has actually stood up to Washington?" [sic] Trump continued, adding that he's the only one with the proven record of standing up to both Democrats and Republicans.

Cruz said that "as voters get more educated, study the candidates, listen to the candidates in person," conservatives are getting behind his candidacy.

The firebrand Texas senator has made few friends in Washington, even from his own party, with his no-compromise tactics that have on one occasion led to a government shutdown...

"You know others have gone out of their way to smack (Trump), I haven't," Cruz noted.

I kind of doubt that. He keels to Megyn Kelly.

I seem to recall Jeb talking about how he was going to “educate” us about how great amnesty is. Condescension towards those voters you hope to attract is not a winning stragegy.

To make it last you have to have an underlying philosophy and the intellectual underpinnings to have the movement outlast the man.

Thanks - I didn’t know about this.

I do agree that Cruz is a patriot and a man of principle and we are lucky that he fights the fight. He has been my second choice. The only reason I go for Trump first is I think he has the raw moxie to push through the barriers and turn the establishment on it’s head. I’ve been thinking that Cruz should be his VP.

In my life I’ve had some good lawyers when I needed them but for the most part when I think of political lawyers I think of people like the Clintons - who use their knowledge to manipulate for personal gain. So many of them as so adept at lying without a conscience.

I refuse to back Crus that says he wants to bring in another 325,000 foreign tech workers when so many Americans are out of work. Maybe Cruz should stop letting himself be bribed by the Chamber of Commerce.

Has the Conservative Review ever posted a positive article on Trump or a negative article on Cruz?

When I was in second grade I was a Cruz supporter.! Now that I have experienced more, I cannot support him.

Perhaps you could address the facts about Cruz rather than play school yard games.

proust- your FR namesake, French writer Marcel Proust was an open homosexual. Is that why you troll Cruz treads? Do you oppose Cruz because of his opposition to gay marriage?

"Ted, would chew him up and spit him out."

Probably, but I don't see how that would help Cruz.

Cruz can hurt Trump but it won't help him.

‘Trump rewrites his history on pretty much a weekly basis’

Not true. Trump wrote a book-length policy manifesto, published in 2012, not a liberal line in in, and he has not contradicted a word in it since.

He said this at about the beginning of this past week actually. This is not a big deal, somewhere he has to try to make some headway and Cruz is at 10% currently, 3rd place, not too bad at this stage.

Trump supporters going to Cruz would be more believable seeing as Sanders positions are the antithesis of the Ron Paul position.

Cruz hasn’t done bad in either debate but hasn’t been stellar either.

No you don’t- you don’t doubt it at all.

That’s why your on threads trolling Cruz-— you’re scared spitless-— Go look at all the Trump threads, see if you find one post from me. I don’t feel it necessary to tear down Trump, to support my guy.

To handle someone, you first have to be able to beat them in the polls.

I support Donald Trump, I love Senator Cruz, and I love Gov. Walker. But I don't think there can ever be a Cruz or Walker presidency if Trump is not president first. The GOPe has to be removed, and only Trump can do that. If the GOPe wins and Trump is not the nominee we will find ourselves with Bush, or maybe even Lindsey Graham, shoved down our throats, and then of course, President Hillary and the continued cursed presence of the corrupt communist apparatchik currently running this country. I support Trump for this reason; as much as I love Cruz (and I think most people who support Trump feel this way.) We believe that it is President Trump or the fall of this once great nation. I wish, Mr. Carraway, you would spend a little time considering this possibility instead of spending your time thinking up new ways to insult Mr. Trump.
