I’m not. I care about THIS country not all the turd-worlds out there.
I hope you are not serious. The 2x4 label is but a approximate and the industry understands that. The same goes for the foot long, jumbo shrimp, and dozens of other terms.
Maybe you misunderstand the meme.
Going after a company for dough-go-bread shrinkage denotes a first-world outlook obsessed with STDNM.
I’ve remodeled many older houses, where, when the surface walls are torn out, exposed beneath are milled real 2” X 4” studs.
Yes, they are....but those studs were made by old mills and even older requirements..the new ones...since the fifties, are as the specifications you posted...the framing industry did that for a number of reasons, and the most logical is the fact that it does not have to be exactly 2x4 and never has been since we actually invoked standards in the industry.
Stud 2x4s standards are set by the people who do the building, not the vendors. Some of it is a matter of price. generally speaking, the smallest viable pine tree for use in studs has a minimum diameter of 4 inches. After milling, and drying the measurements are smaller.
[Subway trying to pull a fast one!]
10% less. A lot used that trick, even in the grocery store. Back in the late 1970’s I grabbed some food at the local McD’s for lunch (hotel work). Noticed my hand went farther around the drink cup than before. They had substituted smaller cups to save on soft drinks, which had usually the highest profit margin (at least when my family owned a fast-food place in the late 1960’s).
When Subway got on board the Mooch train, I purposely ate elsewhere except in a small town where there were not too many choices.
I like the chicken with bacon but get mayo instead of honey mustard.
The bacon sandwich was OK but I’m gonna ask them not to put the sugar on (while on the grill) when they make it, next time. They told me they put it on while making the sandwich.
Yep, insane! I live in the area where Jersey Mikes was founded and they still make the best sub, in my opinion....
Where’s my big 5 cent chocolate bars?!?
[5 cent chocolate bar]
A nickel!!!
Dad, I told you you could sit here if you didn’t bother anyone.
TRUE.
True. They tried to be slick.
Some of these regionals keep their quality top notch by expanding slowly.
Thank you for the info. I have an old one that’s still going strong after more than a year and it’s stamped Made in USA. zippo’s seem like too much hassle. I prefer disposable lighters.
I bought a rental house next door and converted it into a garage/shop.
I did the interior demolition before I hired a contractor to finish the project. The interior walls I removed had studs that were 1 9/16” x 2 1/2”. Don’t remember if the exterior walls were the same.
Makes a great garage! (Location, location, location).
