Good to read a voice of reason here, or anywhere.

I truly don’t get the hostility here. Wild horses are a recent introduction - via white privilege - from Spanish explorers. Horses and burros are an invasive, destructive species much like european boars and the hordes of hybridized hogs that are spreading throughout the nation.

With a concerted effort, horse hunters could be sent into areas infested by the pests and they could be hunted to extinction in short order. Same with burros.

Pigs are going to take a little longer, I’m sure.

Illegal aliens are on the list somewhere too...

We have big ranches around where I live....basically warehousing wild mustangs. For a nice fee....

They warehouse them till they die.

It's a good gig too....don't have to feed them like cattle..and income is certain.

It's a total joke....

Most of these ranches....are off the beaten path...and no "tourists" are visiting.

Total waste of money.

Remember my mother telling me, that during WWII, grocery stores had a section for horse meat along with beef/pork.
The horse meat was not regulated by the ration policies of the day so you could buy as much as you wanted. She said that when cooked properly, hard to distinguish between horse and beef. She said that shortly after rationing of beef ended, that most grocery stores stopped selling horse meat.
