Wisconsin Republican Rep. Paul Ryan was elected on Thursday to serve as the next speaker of the House — a vote that followed weeks of uncertainty and came on the heels of the House passage of a sweeping two-year bipartisan budget deal.
Ryan is expected to call for a renewed effort to make the House function as a great deliberative body again. And he asked members to put the concerns of working families front and center.
"We have nothing to fear from honest differences honestly stated," Ryan was expected to say in prepared remarks. "If you have ideas, let's hear them. A greater clarity between us can lead to a greater charity among us."
Ryan is also expected to underscore the need for a larger vision behind the House's day-to-day work and called for all members to rise to the occasion.
Ryan was officially nominated for Speaker of the House by GOP Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers. His family was seated in the House Chamber in the "Executive Gallery" which is where the First Lady sits during the State of The Union.
In a speech in which John Boehner poked fun at himself for his trademark weepiness and sentimentality, the outgoing House Speaker said "I leave with no regrets, no burdens."

Wish him well? Ryan started off his Speakership by lying to the American people about his involvement in the budget deal. His staff wrote much of it. It was a Boehner-Ryan-McConnell-Obama deal. Beltway birds of a feather...

Oh, and by the way. This so call budget deal stinks to high heaven. Please keep that in mind.
It is definitely time, but what to do?
We just had a coup in the last 7 years. Bloodless. Velvet. Fascist.
Folks like you simply refuse to see it. You shrink back into your Normalcy Bias and pretend that the GOP is doing a great job and that voting for more Republicans is going to save us from where we have been taken.

It took a lot more than votes and petitions to the king to secure the liberties that were subjugated by the Crown. It is going to take a lot more to stop a fascist tyranny that most Americans are comfortable with.
But you go ahead and extoll the virtues of your beloved Republican Establishment Party and continue to delude yourself about their complicity in tyranny.
