What he says above sounds like the Clintons promising the “most ethical administration ever” and Obama the “most transparent” .... Ryno’s going to try and steamroll amnesty, among other things, by leaving the heavy lifting to the Democrats and their Ryno allies.

You just sound a little hypocritical when you advocate for a private system EXCEPT THE TWO GIANT GOVERNMENT PROGRAMS that dominate and define modern healthcare. If you want a truly free priate market, step up and eliminate Obamacare, Medicare, and Medicaid. Otherwise the government is just outsourcing wealth redistribution to the medical system.

Regarding pre existing conditions, you misunderstand. I'm not suggesting a subsidy, I'm suggesting a reset to 2008. If people had insurance then, they should have some path to get it back. You are inadvertently advocating a massive government giveaway to insurance companies - it is classic crony capitalism. People had long term contracts with insurance companies. Obamacare broke the contracts. If you don't have an Obamacare replacement, the insurance companies are gifted new leverage to renegotiate over individuals.

I’m not advocating for the retention of Medicare and Medicaid. I’m acknowledging they will exist with the repeal of Obamacare.

As for resetting for preexisting conditions per 2008, first it isn’t feasible. Second, even if it were feasible, a government mandate to force some insurer to accept is a de facto subsidy by those participating through the same insurer who do not have the conditions.

How is it a subsidy if, for example, the repeal of obamacare mandated that insurers accept back previous customers without restriction? But more importantly, why do you find that very small subsidy (if you think it is one) unacceptable, while there are other subsidies that are probably 100 times as big happening via Medicare and Medicaid? If you want to be an absolutist, be one and get the government out of healthcare entirely.

Once again, acknowledging the existence of Medicare and Medicaid outside of Obamacare does not constitute endorsement of either program. I'm perfectly fine with either or both being repealed too.

As for preexisting conditions, requiring a new insurer to accept preexisting conditions is a de facto subsidy by those other insureds who do not have the conditions but are paying higher premiums to cover the costs associated with such. And to have the federal government cover the costs of insuring the preexisting conditions through a private insurer  in the alternative would put the taxpayer on the hook for it, i.e. another subsidy.

If Congressman Paul Ryan's wife and children were threatened with "terrible violence" by two (2) bad-ass guys bigger and meaner than him ...

No, the grand old one that we had here in Wisconsin that actually offered everything people say they want — portability, ownership of the plan, high deductibes for those who want that, affordability, etc. has had to shut its doors after more than 100 years because of Obamacare.
