A jury found a Garden Grove obstetrician negligent Monday in the death of a 26-year-old mother from China, finding he abandoned his patient in an intensive care unit after she had bled profusely.
Jurors awarded the woman's husband, Yuanda Hong, and their two young sons about $2 million in damages. Before the trial, Garden Grove Hospital Medical Center settled for $3.2 million.

The lawyer gets 40% of the settlement.
The baby that would have been forcefully aborted in China anyway.
Most likely he took the case on a contingency, so if he’d lost, he’d be out whatever money he put into it. It was a risk, and it paid off.
They should only be treated at Veteran hospitals.
Having suffered similar complications in childbirth, that is one horrible way to die, feeling your extremities turn to ice as you bleed out
Gotta side with the family on this one
So if the hospital settles for 3 million then the jury awards 2 million, why does the 3 million still get paid when they didn’t “settle” for it?
Isn’t America a great country??!!
Free Federal Reserve printed dollars for everybody!
So if your wife was 9 months pregnant you would put her on an 18 hour plane ride, fly her to a foreign country, put her up in a motel far away from friends and family, set her up with a doctor she had never met before, have no established prenatal program with that doctor, go to a hospital she had never been in before where they don’t speak her language and something goes wrong. Yup definitely need to sue somebody.
I think the damages were from 2 different sources. The hospital agreed to the $3 million without going to court.
The court proceedings awarded the $2 against the doctor, not the hospital.
Sued the dam doctor for going home and leaving that woman bleed to death with a balloon in her porous uterus?
Yep sure hope my husband would do so
Did you read the article all the way thru?
Ah, thank you!
It was two defendants. The hospital settled and got out of the case for $3.2 million. The obstetrician was found guilty of negligence and the jury awarded $2 million.
Yes I did
Particular interest of mine since I suffered from medical malpractice and nearly died in childbirth
My comments and opinion are based on standard of care, not xenophobia about whether she should have been in that hospital
Doctor should have stayed or assigned her case to colleague on duty, not expected nurses to monitor such a critical situation
That is what the jury found
You think it’s xenophobic to object to people from foreign countries having anchor babies here?
I think it’s xenophobic to be unconcerned or even satisfied that a woman died from malpractice because she was a Chinese national who came here seeking American medical care
This article is about medical malpractice as are my comments
You are focused on turning it into an illegal immigration debate
There are other threads for that
Where do you find that in my two posts - both of which involved questions to you.
Maybe you should tone down your emotions because you seem like a really over-emotional person.
