GOP warns Arkansas senator: Step it up or risk losing a key seat

(CNN) -- The Arkansas Senate seat shouldn't be much of a concern to Republican leaders. The state has grown increasingly red during the Obama era. Mitt Romney romped to a victory there in 2012. And Sen. Tom Cotton last year unseated a scion of a powerful Democratic family, strengthening the GOP hold in the state.

Then there's Sen. John Boozman.

The 64-year-old Republican, facing re-election to a second term next year, has prompted growing concern from party elders who fear he risks a repeat of past election debacles -- where GOP candidates in Indiana, South Dakota, Kansas and Mississippi ran shoddy campaigns, forcing a last-ditch rescue attempt by the party establishment to try to save an endangered seat.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has recently had a serious conversation with Boozman about the state of his campaign, sources said, and plans to headline fundraisers for the Arkansas Republican to help fill his coffers. The National Republican Senatorial Committee has also flatly warned Boozman that it will not spend a penny in Arkansas if he gets into trouble, according to several people familiar with the situation.

The National Republican Committee of any stripe will never get a penny from me, EVER!

Instead of campaigning Boozman is trying to HELP his constituents...I guess something McConnell hasn’t quit figured out yet.

Regrettably, Boozman seems to be a backbencher/rubber-stamper of the go-along-to-get-along variety.

Cotton has made some noise and national headlines during his short tenure.

Boozman hasn’t.

If Boozman loses, a sizable portion of the blame belongs squarely on Mitch McConnell’s shoulders. Arkansas is solidly red. Still the utter disgust most (GOP) voters have with the Senate’s habit of capitulation to Barry’s policies is likely to overflow onto incumbent Republicans unless the GOP nominee can excite.

With just a few exceptions, this list looks like a RINO’s Hall of Fame.

Didn’t he vote no on defunding PP? I remember seeing a list of the yeas/nays and was disgusted by that.
