(CNN)There's a new Jeb Bush on the campaign trail: More combative with his rivals, fired up in his speeches, looser and candid with reporters.
The full-scale reboot -- on display last week in New Hampshire and expected in Tuesday night's debate in Wisconsin -- is meant to transform a self-described introvert not naturally inclined to dramatic flair into a candidate who can compete with outsized personalities like Donald Trump and political up-and-comers like Sens. Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz.
Aides and supporters describe Bush as a tough and determined campaigner, whose civil demeanor shouldn't be mistaken for a lack of grit. To the extent that his tone has changed, advisers say, that reflects a growing urgency that hangs over all the candidates as voting draws nearer.
But Bush, who has presented himself to voters as the man most qualified for the presidency, is not a natural attack dog, and he has repeatedly seemed uneasy going after his rivals in a negative tone. The knock on Bush: He might be too nice.

He could say he once attacked his mother with a chainsaw; one up the whole hammer attack thing. Actually, this sounds like something Jeb’s campaign would think up.

Bush has been plenty nasty in the past. Just through surrogates (Rove, Fox folks etc..). The nastiness never passed through his lips but rest assured, he was perfectly fine with it being performed in his name.
I guess that “joyful tortoise” thingy is over.

We’ve already seen with Mitt Romney what happens to a candidate who was not born with that fire in his belly.
The Alinsky Left makes mincemeat out of him.
Perhaps he should start by shedding the “Mr. Dumb Guy” image first...

He used a kaiser blade. Some folks call it a sling blade. He calls it a kaiser blade. Mmmmhmmm.
Much like Earth-tone, then Alpha wolf algore, Yeb arises Phoenix-like from yet another reincarnation.
What will he be this time? Tinker? Tailor? Horndog? Sailor? We can’t wait for another risible fakement!
It’s not the “nice guy” image that is hurting him. It is the “I love illegals and Common Core” image that is killing him. That, and the “doofus” image.
Ohhhhhhhhh...it’s the new, new, new, new, new, NEW Jeb Bush!
He needs to shed his “dumb as a stump” image. I don’t think it’s possible.
IMHO, this poor soul needs some old fashioned EST.
He just doesn’t seem right in the head.
