At the end of this month 40,000 politicians, officials, green activists, lobbyists and journalists from 195 nations will converge outside Paris â at Europeâs largest airport reserved only for private jets â for a conference that they hope will change the world.
Their declared aim is to agree a treaty committing everyone to such a massive cut in their emissions of greenhouse gases that this might somehow prevent the earthâs temperatures rising more than 2 degrees C higher than they were when the climate began naturally warming again two centuries ago.
The chief obstacle to such an agreement is exactly the same as it was at Kyoto in 1997 and at that last mammoth conference which so signally failed to get Kyoto renewed at Copenhagen in 2009. The vast majority of countries have argued all along that, if man-made CO2 is causing a problem, the fault lies with those âdevelopedâ nations that became rich before everyone else by burning fossil fuels to power their industrial revolution.
It is therefore up to the developed countries of the West to make the most drastic cuts, leaving the still âdevelopingâ nations to catch up. They say they are prepared to make some contribution to reducing CO2, but only if they are paid to do so out of a $100 billion a year âGreen Climate Fundâ, financed by the rich countries that originally created the problem.

When china and the US didnât immediately sign onto new climate treaties awhile back because the UN demanded that rich countries pay for poor countries climate regulations- the UN got pissed and vowed to concoct a new strategy to shame us into joining their absurd agenda- and what they came up with was the claim that rich countries cause the most CO2, therefore they are the ones who are causing poverty around the world claiming climate change is causing irreparable financial loss in nations that canât âafford to fight itâ
We are being stolen from, in broad daylight, and our dear leader who is running towards the thieves with briefcases full of money and a big #$^ eating grin on his face
If only they could get free Martinis, cocaine, and hookers via Skype.
Smog alerts in China??, really??
At the time of the Beijing Olympics, officials in Beijing explained that the city has periods of mist and fog, but not smog; officially we were told there is not an air pollution problem there. Officially a totalitarian government can deny an obvious situation even exists.
Because this is just a bunch of Lefties getting together to discuss how to pick our wallets before we know our lunch money is gone. Every few years they try the same thing and it is a flop. Kyoto, Copenhagen, Cancun and now Paris. Nothing has changed, especially the climate. Keep beating a dead horse and the horse will be just as dead.
Most people don't like Putin right now but he's spot-on about this global warming thing...it's crap.
How much of this conference is going to consist of actual meetings or discussions of the issue? And how much of it consists of living it up, partying, having catered gourmet meals, and charging it all off on an expense report for someone else to pay for? And how much involves men trying to connect with women who are devoted to the cause, and hope to party with them all night long???
What is the total carbon footprint of this conference? Did everyone buy their carbon credits ahead of time to assuage their guilt? Was paying for carbon credits a requirement for the attendees???
My wife was telling me about a guy who works for her company who is from China. (She works for an international agribusiness company). He was here in rural Nebraska visiting one of their plants earlier this summer. Everyday he would go out and take a picture of the sunset with his phone. When someone asked why he was doing that he replied that they havent seen a sunset in his part of China for many years.
I’ll be a flop because global warming is a lie.
