Not convincing enough. Take him out and let the dogs eat him.

It is possible to be a good man in many ways without being a principled conservative. However, being a political leader in the U.S. is not one of these ways.

How would things have turned out if Reagan had picked Kemp.

So what was weird...his saying that there are issues with another candidate that we should be concerned about, and that he supports a border wall, deportation of illegals and bombing the sh*t out of ISIS?

“I was more concerned about that a month ago than I am now. He has improved considerably, much more natural and warm onstage. I don’t know what did it, but it is heartening to see him do better.”

I agree that he - Cruz - is improving steadily. Does anyone happen to know if or when he will be making appearances along the Gulf Coast?

His speech making powers?

Even in the debates he looks like an amateur actor in rehearsal and he sounds like he's in an echo chamber.

Besides that he's a genuine fraud.

He's only conservative when it comes to religion. Beyond that he's as liberal bent as the rest of them.

Williams added, “To see him just imploding before our very eyes, it’s just — it’s sad to watch.”

It was bound to happen. Trump won't be the nominee, and if he slumps in the polls and keeps calling the people of Iowa idiots - he won't even stay in the race.

Trump was all about political blitzkrieg. He needed to come in, dominate the polls, use those polling numbers to belittle other candidates, and create an air of inevitability. With Carson so close on his heels (and winning in some polls) this has thrown a wrench into the works.

If Trump starts polling reliably 2nd or even 3rd or 4th, the man will quit. His greatest fear is being tagged a loser and if looks like he won't win - he will exit the stage altogether.

Good riddance.

It is odd but I find very few people on FB who like Cruz. Most are for Trump with a very few for Carson. These are just posts to me. We are all conservative Christians except for one school friend.

I’m not sure I agree, but it is possible. Question: How does he do that - and save face - without being labeled a quitter?

He frequently has these moments that make you feel like you are driving around with a grenade with a loose pin rolling around on the floorboard.

That’s a great metaphor! Very funny!

I know some like to point out that there is no such thing as bad publicity,

Exactly why he does that time to time...

Trump needs to get it together and run a campaign based on his ideas not his bombastic personality.

I don’t disagree...I thought his tact at the debate and subsequent interviews was more calm and “presidential”...I think he is a very smart man, in a different way than Carson, that knows when to turn “it” on and off. Perhaps he want a little past the line yesterday, maybe not. We shall see. He reminds me of the type to push it to the limit...sort of like negotiations....

All this is helping Cruz.

Worst case sena Rio for Cruz is that Trump wins the nomination and picks Cruz as VP, and Cruz becomes President 4-8 years later. Cruz is clearly the best, but Trump will listen to cruz.

I can’t agree. The best way to take down an opponent in the context of today’s low information voters is ridicule and Carson has been pumped up by the GOPe in an effort to take out Trump regardless of the media. His speech was not geared towards serious political junkies and quite frankly, most of the people on FR are far more sophisticated than the average voter. His speech was very New York City sarcastic - he wasn’t really inviting people to stab him, just making a point that the claim was absurd by taking it to it’s logical conclusion. It’s very much the same thing Rush Limbaugh does on his show but with a much more sarcastic style which appeals to some and not to others.

Trump is running a very non-traditional campaign because he realizes that he’s not running on policy papers. He has staked his claim to some very broad and popular sentiments in this country such as illegal immigration and nationalism and really is in line with the mood of the country. Remember, this is a primary so yes, you can go after the Dems but you have to win the primary in order to get to the general election and right now the opponent that matters most is the one in front not the one down the road.

You may be correct about Cruz not really connecting with the average voter, and I wish I could explain it<

Cruz supporter here, and yes, I think we have to be honest that the Senator is having a hard time gaining traction beyond his natural base of support - ie, learned, grounded conservatives.

Cruz is getting better as a candidate and always does well in debates, but as of yet it appears, brilliant though he may be, that he is lacking charisma for a national run.

I don't think what McConnell or the "establishment" thinks of him matters much, what does matter is that so far Cruz is just not perceived as terribly likable - and whether we want to admit it or not that is a big part of how people vote.

>>>It’s over the line to call your competitor a liar, potential child molester and potential serial killer in one speech with no evidence but by innuendo<<<<

You must have watched a different Trump Speech than I did. I’m a “Cruzer” and I was cracking up. It seems that everyone is ignoring the fact that Trump repeatedly said, I’m not saying it, it was in Carson’s book.

To be factual, Trump never said that Carson was a “potential child molester and potential serial killer”.

I immediately thought of that scene in the Movie Patton where the General says, “Rommel, I read your book!”.

This is a slanted piece, but Trump's speech yesterday was really, really weird.

The only "Weird" about Trumps speech was (again) the disruptor's sitting to his left. ,

. Couple of days ago it was that woman in the big hat waving around a white book with a black picture

Yesterday was the mother and daughter....daughter yawning all the time...mother gets up and departs

Oh, that will be easy for Trump. He will just put another "face" on. There was his business face which he explains is the reason he gave to so many liberal Democrats, now there is his campaign face. When he goes he will claim his goal all along was knocking out Jeb or providing some backbone to the GOP candidates. He will say that was his plan all along which is why he spent so little of his own money. He will make it sound like he was doing us all a favor - and if he did help knock Jeb out then he really did do us a favor.
