The Russian air force just pulled off one of the biggest and most complex heavy bomber missions in modern history—sending no fewer than 25 Backfire, Bear, and Blackjack bombers on a coordinated, long-range air raid against alleged ISIS forces in Syria.
The Tuesday mission, which launched under the cover of darkness from a base in Ossetia in southern Russia, signaled a significant escalation of Moscow’s air war in Syria—and heralded the rebirth of Russian heavy bomber squadrons that once had withered from a lack of funding.

Putin couldn’t care less about Syria or the war on terror.
This is all about supporting his friend Iran and propping up the price of oil, on which the Russian economy depends.
Still, it’s nice how things work out sometimes.

How do you know what Putin thinks? Besides, to claim that he cares nothing of that plane load of dead Russians is just absurd. There may be many interests involved, but that does not mean that “Putin couldn’t care less about the war on terror.” He certainly seems to care, and a lot more than Obama.
If they’re flying from Ossetia, then they’re flying over Turkish air space to get to Syria. Wonder if Putin asked first...
Putin has two of what 0bama never even wished he had.
Putin showed an amazing amount of patience. He waited until they had absolute proof that it was a terrorist bomb and then the next day, POW!
