TAMPA, Florida, November 19, 2015 (LifeSiteNews) - Dr. Ben Carson has been in the center of a firestorm since a Florida newspaper reported that he referred to the Terri Schiavo case as "much ado about nothing."

Yesterday morning, in a comment sent exclusively to LifeSiteNews, Dr. Carson said his remarks had been "taken out of context and misinterpreted."

"When I used the term 'much ado about nothing,' my point was that the media tried to create the impression that the pro-life community was nutty and going way overboard with the support of the patient," Dr. Carson told LifeSiteNews yesterday.

Some pro-life leaders remained uneasy after hearing his explanation, and numerous LifeSiteNews readers said they wished they could see a full recording of the exchange.

Today, reporter Adam C. Smith of the Tampa Bay Times posted a full transcript of the question he posed at a press conference on Saturday:

Q: Dr. Carson, a few years ago when Gov. Bush was in charge of the state, he and the Florida legislature moved to overturn the court decision on Terri Schiavo to force the feeding tube to be reinserted. What was your view of that as a doctor at the time?
CARSON: Well, I said at the time, "We face those kinds of issues all the time and while I don't believe in euthanasia, you have to recognize that people that are in that condition do have a series of medical problems that occur that will take them out." And your job is to keep them comfortable throughout that process and not to treat everything that comes up.

Q: Did you think it was appropriate for congress and the legislature to –
CARSON: don't think it needed to get to that level. I think it was much ado about nothing. Those things are taken care of every single day just the way I described.

Carson just keeps digging his own grave a little deeper. His remarks clearly weren't taken out of context or misinterpreted.

I used to think Yeb was the most adept at shooting one’s self in the foot.

But Ben is giving him some real competition.

Carson is a liar!

His comment WAS NOT TO:

“When I used the term ‘much ado about nothing,’ my point was that the media tried to create the impression that the pro-life community was nutty and going way overboard with the support of the patient,”

It appears that the Tampa paper pulled the link.

I really don't know what Dr. Carson's deficiencies are. I do know that continually saying stupid stuff and then as a strategy blaming the media and saying it's a "gotcha'" question is not working anymore. He has no business running for President.

That answer, however you look at it, shows no compassion for pro-life sentiments and no compassion for the family who tried to save her.

It made me wonder if Dr. Carson is fronting for Jeb.

It's odd, their links usually work fine.

Most medical professional would answer the way he did as they are in that arena daily. The problem is some people don’t like his answer. As a politician he has to learn to say something that means nothing. To tell people what they don’t want to hear will not get you elected,
Trump is a much better liar thus a much better politician and he has perfected the art of saying what a lot of people want to hear. Obama was just as good.
No telling what Trump will do if elected

List Trump’s three or four biggest whoppers, along with the PROOF that enabled you to know with absolute, objective certitude that he was lying when he said them.

If Carson ever ends up as a patient, he might just get a doctor who isn’t too concerned about treating everything.

LOL!!!

THIS is supposed to help you Dr. Carson???

The man is in way over his head! Someone needs to take him aside, and encourage him to retire comfortably. Go, play some golf the rest of your life you deserve it Doc! You’ve done a lot of good with your life but now you’re just embarrassing yourself.

Is this how you really want to end a distinguished career in medicine? To be remembered as some half-baked non-committeed “pro-lifer”, (and I obviously use that term loosely), who thinks the entire world is wrong wrt the pyramids of Egypt and, really, their faith in God?

Now I’m just feeling sorry for the guy. Before I thought he was a danger now it’s obvious he’s just got nothing left in the tank and no matter how he does in Iowa after that, it’s “goodnight Johnny” for this Carson!

Being starved and dehydrated to death is comfortable? You really believe that? A lie from the Pit of Hell.

If Carson is “following the Dutch Model”, they just kill you with a nice drug cocktail. I have never said a nice thing about Carson, and I won’t start now.
