Democrat John Bel Edwards won the runoff election for Louisiana governor Saturday, defeating the once-heavy favorite, Republican David Vitter, and handing the Democrats their first statewide victory since 2008.
Edwards, a state lawmaker, will take over the office from term-limited Republican Gov. Bobby Jindal in January.
Voters' rejection of Vitter was a stunning turn of events for the U.S. senator, who has been a political powerhouse in the state for years and started his campaign nearly two years ago as the race's front-runner.

Or maybe "family values" Republicans who like hookers who make them wear diapers shouldn't run for Governor.

Where can these results be found?
Republicans expect more of our candidates. So many "conservatives" have backstabbed us from among those who had something in their background that contradicts their narrative. Perhaps, if those running for office don't clean out the closet first, they shouldn't expect the conservative vote.
If the shoe fits wear it. Vitter is now consigned to irrelevance. I just hope we don’t lose the Senate seat.
Amen. Any defeat for the GOPe, and Vitter is certainly part of the GOP Elite, is a win for conservatism.
Representing a party that is considered by most Americans as prudish hypocrites, Vitter certainly held up the standard. He and the GOPe have nothing to blame but themselves.
How any U.S. Citizen could vote for the party that put and has supported Barack-the-insane Obama in office for 8 years is beyond comprehension unless you are a Muslim, an African, a criminal alien, or a societal parasite.
I believe Vitter has said he isn't going to run for re-election so that should make it easier for the GOP to retain the seat. Unless Jindal decides to run for it.
I am probably going against the grain here, but I think this may be the start of a drip-drip-drip of Democrat victories.
Most of us out here in flyover country absolutely hate Washington DC and David Vitter is a long term citizen of Washington D C. and in that little prostitution scandal just proved it to independents and others who are not rock solid Republicans.
Then add in any perceived failure(s) by Jindal.
I really expect a few more of these “upsets” over the next couple of election cycles.
Senator Jindal would be among the brightest we have.

Vitter was detested by Louisiana's Country Club Republicans - Jindal, Darden, Angelle, etc. I know those people, and they NEVER supported Vitter.
So did Edwards run as a blue dog Dem but once elected he gets to turn hard left like a true, yellow Rat? So Vitters sin of the past is worse than a current rotgut DemRat endorsed by Hellary? Can’t spell Loseeanna without Lose.
jindal issued a statement about last night’s result. jindal says, ‘la is in a better position...i am optimistic about its future.’
Proving once again that RINOs would rather see a Democrat elected than support a conservative Republican.
Jindal has the second worst approval ratings of any governor in the country. I don't think that would go away by 2016. I am sure that Jindal isn't the only conservative in Louisiana and they could do much better for senator.
Losses hurt but if we are going to de-rat the GOP instead of abandoning it (unfortunately) then we are going to have to accept the losses.
As Hamilton wisely said, “Better the enemy in their camp than yours”.
Except that Vitter isn’t a “rat.” He’s one of the good guys. Check out his voting record.
Jindal isn’t, nor has he ever been a “conservative.” He did have some conservative traits - pro-life, pro second amendment - but mostly he was a typical RINO for the eight years in office.
