More than a week after the terrorist attacks in Paris, many Americans are thinking about personal safety. The attacks prompted yet another jump in gun sales nationwide.
Gun shows in southwest Alabama are usually busy, and this weekend at the fairgrounds is no exception. Mark Beasley has been very busy in the days since the Paris terror attacks.
"Sales have gone up at least 50% in the last five days," said Beasley. He runs Quality Pawn in Huntsville. Timothy Dilcher just a few tables watches more sales as well.
"It puts a scare in an individual, it takes something like that to shake people up in a way," said Timothy Dilcher, a gunsmith with Frazier's Tactical Firearms. From Charleston to Lafayette a rise in gun sales follows the month after every massacre that's made the news. We have gun background check numbers to back that up - but not this month. Numbers for November won't be available until the start of December.

I thought France increased sales.

You can’t even buy a toy gun in France!

The articles on this topic I’m seeing seem to all be referring to US-based gun sales. Got me curious about France, so found the following:
Gun ownership, licit and illicit, is 31 firearms per 100 people. 4.4 people per 100 are gun-registered.
France is the 5th country in the world, WRT total guns in private hands (19,000,000). For rate of ownership in private hands, it is #12.
Is it really because of the attacks, or because of Obama coming out soon afterward claiming that more gun control is one of his major pushes in his final year?
Not to mention the anti gun rhetoric by the Butcheress of Benghazi
All of the above.
I think it’s not too difficult to buy a single/double shotgun or .22 target pistol in France, but not too sure about anything more high-powered.
Assuming its accurate, the following is a summary of how they classify firearms:

Its my understanding that its not a difficult or lengthy process to acquire a category 5 firearm in France. The problem is, all handguns are apparently classified as category 4, which is harder to acquire. And, of course, although I haven’t come across any info on it, I’d be stunned if France actually allows anything resembling concealed carry.
Worse than California but not as bad as the UK.
Of course, the terrorists don’t seem to have a problem getting all kinds of weapons.
It is because more people now recognize that the cops only show up after you’re dead.
Folks understand, now, more than ever, that YOU are responsible for your own security, and it’s no longer a philosophical debate.
A friend of mine who had sold all of his hunting gear 15 years ago, now wants to get back in the game, for purposes of personal protection.
We’re getting together soon to check options, preferences, and getting him started in the CCW process.
