I remember the 2009 movie very well. Few films I have seen have been as moving and inspiring. If anyone deserved veneration by the Nobel Committee, it would have been Irena.

However, I seem to recall that they ignored her nomination in 2007 to honor the Global Warming freak show of Al Gore. It shows you where their priorities lie better than any long essay.
