Uh, no.
I was trying to respect the OP’s anxiety at the time not whitewash an “attempt.”
People who want to kill themselves actually die. Its so easy, even a confused moron can do it. Or a prisoner in a jail cell shackled to the floor. Or an eight year old with no Rx meds.
So, when a person fails, it is pretty much a fact that they did not actually intend to die.
Now, the opposite is not true. Because making an attempt that seems dire but not dying is not so easy.
So many deaths were a call for help that went to far. But, most all “attempts” that don’t result in death were not intended as a suicide in the first place. If she is srtill alive, she probably didn’t mean it.
And, not to put too fine a point on this, but what a person says they want (or even consciously thinks they want) is not necessarily what they actually want.
I get the impression that you haven’t worked with many very depressed people. Some try very hard to end the misery and they are not always successful.
Praying for Kylie now.
That she was not successful in her attempt may very well be the Lord’s way of saying that He is not through with her yet, and that He has a better plan for her.
May her desperation be replaced by the love and care of the Holy Spirit.
Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem.
