Donald Trump must apologize to Muslim Americans and to Jersey City for his untrue, divisive and reprehensible comments perpetuating an old rumor we thought had rightly died.
By repeating – and indeed embellishing – this hateful rumor, Trump once again ratchets up the ugliness in the current political climate.
Thousands and thousands of people in Jersey City did not cheer the destruction of the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001. Period. End of story. There is no need to continue to "fact check'' his words.
The truth is that Trump's statements are factually, ethically and morally wrong. Those of us who were really there that day and in the days that followed know that Jersey City suffered tremendous loss, mourned and stepped up to help.

I remember seeing footage of Muslims celebrating in the street on 9/11. I thought the ones I saw were in Deerborn Michigan. Maybe not thousands in NJ, but certainly thousands in the US cheered the fall of the towers.
Baloney. I remember that day...I’m in NW Indiana, and was like all of us glued tightly to my TV. I saw the reports of so many in the Middle East....celebrating and the women ululating....mixed in with all that outrage I distinctly remember reports of stateside Muslims joining in.....from a distance....with their family back home.
Maybe not thousands, but it’s real easy for all the massive reporting of those early days to congeal into one great big blob of memory. It happened. Muslims here in THIS country celebrated 9-11. Trump did not make it up.
So, screw the apology.
Christie said it didn't happen but the Washington Post article says it did.

If I were Trump, my apology would be:
“I’m sorry that you believe you have the right not to be offended. However, you are terribly mistaken. I have read both the Bill of Rights and the US Constitution and neither document guarantees any of us with the right to not be offended. It does however guarantee me the right to speak and express myself freely. So please be advised that I mean what I say and say what I mean, and no apologies for either. So deal with it. Now, kindly have a Coke and a smile, and STFU.”
he didn’t blame all muslims, he just said he saw muslims who celebrated 9/11. Are they denying they exist? Shouldn’t moderate muslim be apologizing that there are radicals in their ranks?
On a related note, I can't believe how the Dems are now clinging on to this as a way of trying to trying to revive their message. They don't have much to run on and, unfortunately, Trump just threw them a lifeline.

If he does, I bet that will be the beginning of the end of his campaign. That is one thing that people respect about him. He says what he means and means what he says.
