Chancellor Angela Merkel vowed on Wednesday to stick to her open-door refugee policy, defying criticism at home and abroad which has intensified due to growing fears about a potential security risk after the Islamist attacks in Paris.
Conservative Merkel faces splits in her right-left coalition and pressure from EU states, including France, over her insistence that Germany can cope with up to 1 million migrants this year and that Europe must accept quotas to take them in.
In a 40-minute speech to the Bundestag lower house of parliament, Merkel said the security threat level in Germany was high but insisted that people must carry on with normal life.
"The strongest response to terrorists is to carry on living our lives and our values as we have until now -- self-confident and free, considerate and engaged," she said to loud applause.
"We Europeans will show our free life is stronger than any terror," Merkel added, battling with a croaky voice.

That's actually a good observation. Such a comment would have made zero sense a couple of years ago. Now it's spot-on. Just goes to show how upside down this world has become.

Aside from the truthful translation of her words, it is of particular note that it is mostly the illegal invaders of Europe who are taking particular relish in attacks of all kinds, from rapes to robbery to mass attacks of terrorism. The hugging of illegals, like it has in America, has resulted in hundreds of deaths. And like America, the lawless class simply infects and spreads among the population.
Had Europe chosen instead to defend their national borders rather than get twisted up in liberal ideology, would have a very effective tool in combating these terrorists. Instead, they're backed into a corner of their own making - what do you do with a Muslim illegal you've declared to be a refugee? Aside from pleading with them 'don't hurt me', I've no clue when liberals are in power.
Such a move is possible. But it takes a measure of political courage no longer present in western Europe. From Wikipedia:

It looks like a parliamentary system where an election can be called early. I hope the Germans do just that.
Angie, they just don’t understand the danger of religious fanaticism coupled with an average low to mid 80s IQs.
There’s no reasoning with them, no showing them a better way. They are long conditioned to believe that islam is the MUCH better way which would be fine if the concept of tolerance and live and let live wasn’t sacrilegious to them.

The German chancellor is chosen by the legislature, not by a direct vote of the people. A chancellor would seem to be able to be replaced quickly, but a successor has to be named before the current one is removed.
