A Ted Cruz moment for me
Legal Insurrection ^ | Sunday, November 29, 2015 | William A. Jacobson

The confidence to engage rather than avoid.

This video has been around since July. I had heard about it, but never watched it. I’m not sure how, but I stumbled upon it last night.

In the video, Ted Cruz’s rally opposing the Iran nuclear deal was interrupted by Medea Benjamin and other Code Pink protesters.

Cruz could have reacted many ways. He could have shouted down the people shouting him down. He could have insulted them. He could have had security push them away.

But instead, he engaged. That’s what was important to me. The confidence to engage rather than avoid. Standing face to face with hostile protesters was very Andrew Breitbart-like.

When you watch this video, forget who won the argument, but focus on Cruz’s willingness to debate the leader of Code Pink, someone used to grabbing the spotlight. Cruz reduced Benjamin to a sideshow rather than center stage. It’s almost as if she was not there.

For me, watching it was a Ted Cruz moment.

Great catch!! Sadly, if Trump uttered the exact same words to, say, Hillary, he would met with uproarious cheers and hailing of his great leadership and guts! *sigh*

I’ve been saying it since O’Bama was elected and took office. I cannot wait until adults are back in charge. It’s been like an 8 year kegger and someone else gets to pay for it AND the privilege to clean it up.

Yeah, and that's all he's doing, is talking. My point of view remains that anybody who thinks a big wall and mass deportations is are going to bring anything but more force of government, bad response to any problem, has a problem with reality. There are other, better ways to dry up the illegal immigration problem.

Cruz is spot-on with regard to the concept of limited government Christian conservatism. His political compass is steady.

Trump's political compass is as mercurial as the markets.

Precisely.

I don’t disagree about Cruz bona fides, with some exceptions, but we wouldn’t even be having this discussion, and Cruz would be a mere afterthought in the race with all GOPe candidates leading and the ones that have dropped still in crowding the field if not for Trump. Yes, there are other ways to help with stopping the invasion (stop the benefits, for one), but it’s got to start with a wall, enforcement of existing laws, deportations and I bet it doesnt take a few deportations before the exodus begins. All it takes is someone to mean what they say and do it. Trump beings that to the table without being interfered with by “paybacks” to the donor class, as Cruz would have to deal with.

I don't think so.....unless of course society is 'still' as stupid as it was when Obama was voted in......when it comes down to the vote this time around hopefully enough will have considered what they got by believing the lies and distortions as he played on peoples emotions...and also refusing to heed the 'warnings' regarding his past and history.

I do not believe Trump.....he wants the "show" and the "win" because that is what he does.... What he will actually 'DO' his history and saying at his rally.."You have to be flexible" to his audience.....and that "that is just the way it is".....certainly indicated to me he's not going to consider the public, rather his own image.

Just three years ago he had a say regarding Hillary.....

If any think Trump can ‘stop’ the flow of human capital across borders, and the redistribution of populations into Western cultures, then they need to understand the dynamics behind this being played out on the world stage....it’s not going to be stopped apart from the US being isolated from the rest of the world........which might be possible but I doubt it as world trade requires otherwise.

I have walked in the halls of the rich and socially connected and found it boring. But they all make nice like that even when they hate them. Meant nothing.

Obama is not that smart, like Hillary, the reality is a lot less than the hype has led people to believe.
