We can have a conversation is political speak for I don’t dare tell you my true feelings on illegals. I guess he stuck his finger in the wind to see which way it was blowing politically for him.

Cruz is right, close the borders to the illegals first, otherwise it’s like pouring water through a sieve. The illegals will continue to pour in faster than we can deport them. BTW How does Trump propose to identify and deport them?

Stop the bleeding first? Then identify and deport those here illegally. Trump is my first choice after Cruz.

Donald Trump's plan IS an amnesty in that he wants an expedited system for "the good ones"

I think the "expedited" thing is probably a myth created by Trump not explaining himself properly. Since that time, Trump has talked about the unfairness of illegals jumping ahead in line of legal applications, and seems to be discussing streamlining immigration in general, albeit while also raising prevailing wage standards and the like for H1-B applicants, as well as initiating an American workers first policy, requiring employers to hire from the domestic pool first.

Either way, the whole "Trump supports amnesty too!" is a stupid reply from Cruz supporters who have been harrassing and insulting me for months for pointing out that he actually does support amnesty, a fact they've been denying and Cruz has been obfuscating depending on the audience he is speaking to.

I guarantee, Breitbart or Right Scoop will never be reporting these quotes.

I think most of us FR folk like Cruz. But you know what? This stuff is piling up.

Sure is. A politician can only break the deal with me so many times before I finally go cold on them. Ted has me at the lukewarm stage now. One more deal-breaker, and I'm going to go frosty.

“Bring it to a grinding halt, and then start over one step at a time.”

Illegals go the back of the line, behind those who did not break our laws. As far as that goes, we need an immediate moratorium on immigration until we get our southwestern border under control.
It’s like bouncing people who sneak into a movie theater without paying. Once they pick themselves off the sidewalk, if they want to see the movie they can do what they rest of us do—wait their turn and buy a ticket.

This really changes my opinion of Cruz. I had no idea the Cheap Labor Express had their hooks in him.
Go Trump!

Cruz is a strict law and order kind of guy. I have a lot of confidence in his will to enforce our laws.

Trump doesn’t say they go to the back of the line. He says he would streamline a way for the “good ones” to come back.

He has said they will have to go to the back of the line.

Trump states in his written immigration plan that companies have to hire citizens before going offshore to bring in foreign workers. Foreigners are last to be hired which does not sit well with the cheap labor guys.

Fixed.

How about these from the last debate?

It's too bad, but you've been had, by a pro.

Ted's a smart guy. Probably the smartest person running for president at this time. He knows perfectly well which way the wind is blowing on this issue, which is why his statement about having a "conversation" about illegals present in the country, exposes his shameful position on the matter.

It doesn't take a seer or a genius to realize that someone is exerting real and inordinate influence on Ted. Someone who wants the status quo, vis a vis illegal aliens, to continue.

Ted is trying hard to straddle the same fence that others before him have lost their balance on. Like those ex-candidates who fell by the way, he's going to quickly find that the voters see right through any weakness on illegal immigration.

Trump states in his Immigration plan that he will go back to moderate historical averages. Many will have to justify their presence in the United States to be welcomed back, and as a consequence many won’t be coming back.

Trump is a cheap labor guy being in the hotel, casino, golf course, and construction businesses. With all the Hispanics he has working for him he need only make it a requirement to speak Spanish and he'll get all the "legalized" aliens he wants.

...identify and deport those here illegally.

I agree with that, but it's not what Ted said.

Ted said we should secure the border, then have a "conversation" about what to do with the illegals who are already here.

Big difference, and not a good one, my friend.

But he’s not using “comprehensive immigration reform” code language, like Cruz.

Trump talks about deporting illegals. Period.

Those tossed out as you recognize: “Trump doesn’t say they go to the back of the line.” which is even better.

If there are some good ones, well—we’ve had our share of bad ones. so it’s about time we started picking and choosing, separating the sheep from the goats. That’s the whole idea behind having an immigration and naturalization system and set of laws.

Cruz is wishy washy on illegal immigration because he plays to his big donors. See how this works.

Oh and while we’re at it, how’s a President with major investments in Istanbul and Dubai (as Trump does) going to help the Kurds against ISIS or curtail Islamic immigration?

PS The one thing we all seem to recognize is that the border has to be secured or deportation will turn into a farce, like trying to bail out a boat with a pail full of holes.
It has to be done, better now than later, the soon begun the sooner done. Ike did it in three months.
