San Bernardino shooters were radicalized 'for quite some time,' FBI says

... Shooters Syed Rizwan Farook and Tashfeen Malik practiced at gun ranges in the Los Angeles area, said David Bowdich, assistant director of the FBI's Los Angeles field office. And on at least one occasion, he said, their target practice occurred within days of the shooting.

They "were radicalized and have been for quite some time," Bowdich said...

ISIS ties?

...Tashfeen Malik and Syed Rizwan Farook were photographed at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport in 2014.

It is possible they became radicalized and planned and executed the attack on their own...

...So far, Bowdich said, investigators haven't found any evidence of a plot for the attack extending outside the continental United States.

"Right now, we're looking at these two individuals...and we are beginning to focus, to build it out from there."

Raid at family home in Pakistan

Sources told CNN that investigators believe Malik was radicalized at least two years ago, well before she came to the United States with Farook on a fiancee visa and before ISIS proclaimed its caliphate.

Authorities are looking into whether she pushed her husband to adopt more extremist views.

"We are working with our foreign counterparts to determine as much as we can," Bowdich said.

Thousands of miles away from the San Bernardino shooting scene, in a city in central Pakistan, authorities have raided a home owned by Malik's father, a security source told CNN Monday.

The forces broke a padlock off the building in the city of Multan, removing items from the unoccupied home...

I think when he was looking for wifie who would wear the burka, he was asking specifically asking for a female terrorist to partner with. Simple code.

I think Obama’s grip on some of the Federal agencies is slipping as he stumbles towards lame-duckness.

A bit of the truth is leaking out along the edges.

You can see it in their sneering mugshots. Same kind of smirk as Osama bin Laden.

[[San Bernardino shooters were radicalized ‘for quite some time,’ FBI says]]

Radicalized by whom? ‘lone wolves’? Or by actual terrorist organizations? (Which the FBI can’t seem to draw a link to)

The way I see it:

ISIS, or any other terrorist group, instructs muslims world-wide that it’s their duty to rise up and attack the infidels as their contribution to jihad. Lone wolves act on that and decide to commit an act of terror, be it an attack on one person (think of that poor Rigby fellow in Britain) or a larger plan (think Fort Hood).

Whether they were formally in communication with the terror group or not, they were carrying out their instructions, thus were part of the group.

I really don’t see any benefit to any immigration at the moment of any kind. The job market sucks, our entitlement system is going to drag us all down, and the country needs time to figure things out.

I don’t for a second believe immigration is a right. These are NOT U.S. citizens and we have to look our for our own interests first. I support immigration of the best and brightest, but what we have seen with recent immigration trends is not what we want for the long term health of our nation. I have an appreciation for what immigration did for our country. I want people who will assimilate, will make us better, and who love our country, culture, and freedoms. If they don’t meet that definition I don’t see anywhere in our nations charter where we have to accept them on the whims of ANY politician.

I just promoted Trumps idea without mentioning religion.

FWIW - I don’t disagree with your assessment or question. It’s a larger question and a gamble of epic proportions because he is allowing the opposition to define him and he does not care. I am starting to figure Trump out, but the safest place to be (and remain) with very high support based on historical polls (not snapshots after a terror attack) is what I framed above - most of the reward with much less risk.

Radicalized. Hmmm, is that a new term? Is it officially recognized by the American Psychiatric Association? What are the causes? Symptoms? Can anyone be affected or is there some sort of genetic predisposition?

The one common element in these cases of spontaneous "radicalization" seems to be exposure to a certain book and a certain so called religion, "of peace" no less. Maybe quarantine for those heavily exposed is advisable. Say, in countries already overrun with hopeless cases, large scale leper colonies so to speak. It would be the prudent and humane solution.

I’ve been wondering the same thing.

RADICALIZED. It’s like popcorn finally pops.

The photo I noticed circulating today was taken last year when they were going through customs at Chicago O’Hare. They weren’t posing for that photo and it probably gives a more accurate indication of their true nature than the previous photos released to the media.

I agree. It’s not an easy thing to find where to draw the line. The danger extends beyond Islam and well into our basic constitutional rights. We didn’t get here overnight, it’s going to take some time to find our way out.

Easy answer, once you accept the fact that Islam is NOT a religion, anymore than was Nazism. Islam is a militant, expansionist, totalitarian political ideology, covering itself beneath a veneer of religion, so as to conquer and subjugate the world through a process of deception (Taqiyya) and terror (Jihad). Once that fact is accepted, then banning its practice, for its being a subversive political ideology, is a very easy thing to accomplish. Would Americans accept a Nazism as a religion? Keep in mind that during WWII, Islam was allied with Hitler. Evil seeks out evil.

You nailed it.

We have more people than jobs, why bring in military age males?

And the mom knew. Reports today say that her son took out large cash transactions in her name. No way she didn’t know they were stockpiling weapons

They were Muslims. Therefore, they may as well have been “radicalized.”

But this was not SJS.

This took a long time to set up, and we still don’t know what all the bombs were for.

There’s much more to this story than an outbreak of SJS.
