LOWNDES CO., GA (WALB) - Two Afghan national flight team members, maintainers, or aircraft mechanics, who have been training to fly with the 81st Fighter Squadron at Moody Air Force Base, are missing.

Multiple law enforcement agencies received an alert from Moody Officials. They referred all initial calls to the Air Force Press Desk at the Pentagon. Phone calls to that office have not yet been returned.

Moody Air Force Base later issued a release by email:

Two male Afghan air force students did not report for duty yesterday at their regular maintenance training at Moody AFB in Valdosta, Georgia. Both are assigned to the 81st Fighter Squadron. They have been at Moody since. February 2015 and were screened prior to their arrival in the United States more than a year ago. The students have trained alongside American counterparts for the entirety of 2015 and do not pose any apparent threat. There is a well-coordinated process among federal agencies to locate the individuals as quickly as possible and return them accordingly to the proper authorities to manage their present situation.

...were screened prior to their arrival in the United States more than a year ago.

May have been OK then but may have radicalized over the past year. Time will tell.

Did they skip the part of the training about landing a 747?

Saw this on the morning news - they showed pictures of A-10s and numerous AC-130 variants — were these the planes the musselmen were training on?

Well, okay then.....as long as they went through the screening process, there's nothing to worry about.

It sent a chill up my spine last night, after witnessing the hysterics from all corners after Trump voiced his proposal. We really truly are on our own. Unbelievable.

According to Korey Fratini with Moody AFB Public Affairs, the two men were last seen Friday during normal hours at the base, and would not be releasing the names or pictures of them.

Much the wisest course, I'm sure. I have full confidence in our authorities to handle this situation. /s

I did my AFROTC summer camp at Moody AFB back in 1952. I remember it as being very hot. At the end of the day my fatigues were always crusted with salt from all the sweating I did. I was eating salt tablets with every meal, to keep my electrolytes up.

Not releasing their photos or names?

Even if they’re just messing around with some hookers, wouldn’t it be wise to have people keeping an eye out?

Or are they fearful what might be done TO them...

Update !

Afghan Airman Missing in US Located, 1 Still Unaccounted For

One of the two missing Afghan airmen who disappeared in the United States in December has been located, according to an American official.

Two male Afghan Air Force students, part of a program to train Afghan pilots and maintenance personnel, failed to report for duty on Dec. 7, 2015 at their regular training at Moody AFB in Valdosta, Georgia.

They were among nine pilots and 14 maintenance crew who were at Moody Air Force Base for much of the past year. The missing men were from the maintenance crew.

One of the men is an Afghan Air Force lieutenant, while the other is a senior master sergeant, officials said.

They were scheduled to graduate from the program a week after they went missing and return to Afghanistan shortly after.

Officials did not confirm which of the men was found.
