Why you might ask? Because if the child is going to be Jewish he must have a Jewish mother. There are so few Jews in the world that we try to have as many Jewish births as possible. How serious are these conversions? I don't know. Ivanaka Trump could start going to church in ten years but this will not change the fact that she gave birth to Jewish children.
