And her degree is in ????

Gender Studies, minority whatever. Might as well be basket weaving.

You can bet it’s not in physics, math, chem, EEng MEng, CSci.

Missy needs to come back to reality and stop digging the hole. Either get into a community college or put off further studies to pay off her debt.

This whole paradigm has to change and the adults around her need to bring her back to reality instead of subsidizing her delusions.

There is a sense of entitlement regarding college education these days. When I was going through high school in the 1970s, not everybody was expecting to go to college. I would have loved to have gone but my parents could not afford tuition at that time (which was probably around $4,300 a year). Back in those days, $4,300 was a lot of money for parents to shell out when the average income was around $11,000.

So I joined the Marines, which had a program where if you put in $2,700 over the four years, they would triple that and give you $8,100 at the end of your four years. I signed up for that program and pretty much fully funded the Technical School where I ended up going. That allowed me to get a job and make decent money. Then I took advantage of my company's tuition reimbursement program and took night college courses to round out my education.

The end result was no college loans to pay off and a decent career in electronics. Not to mention a military background, which pretty much guarantees you a job wherever you apply (at least that is what I have experienced).

My own two sons went to college and we chose colleges that we could afford to pay as we go. So no student loans for them and they have engineering degrees.

So what is her major, anyway...does it have the word science or studies in its name?

Seems that most young people have no understanding of basic economics. I'm not talking about being a pundit with a pile of degrees. Just some basics like before you get into debt, be sure you can pay it off. If you can't pay it off or don't know, don't get into debt.

But not to worry. She will probably vote for Bernie Sanders. Sanders will make sure her debt is wiped out and she can finish college for FREE.

As co-signers her parents and sister are in hock to support her “dream”. No mention of the degree she is aiming for but the loan people think it’s a bad bet.

She could have enrolled in “The Velvet Jones School of Technology” and earned while she learned. (couldn’t find it on youtu r)

I wonder if it was a personal loan from her parents...and they expected her to be paying it back by now.

She's been going to school for a year, hen working for a year...then back to school for a year....etc etc,

Sounds like one big mooch to me....and I bet the parents are fighting over it, too.

Not hot enough and a bit long in the tooth for Sugar Babies. Same sad story here :). That’s why I didn’t go to the school of my dreams, but I commuted to a school where the degree was actually worth something, and worked while attending it.

If she had brain cells she would have been awarded scholarships.

I disagree and I have the scars to prove it! The previous post was yesterday at 6pm, 18 hours ago.

Just a day ago, C19fan posted a topic a mere hour and a half earlier when another poster came on from the same source [http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3373341]. When I did as you did AppyPappy in pointing out the earlier post, I got reamed on her thread as a ...

So C19fan, keep the post!

I don’t have much hearing left, but somehow all this whining still seems to annoy the hell out of me.

Jeez, my first car was a 6 year old Pontiac. Came with no a/c and the heat was broken & unfixable. Someone should have bought me a new Road Runner, I deserved it!

I also went to a state college, drove a 10 year old Fiat 600D that I paid $400 for. My junior year I upgraded to a 4 year old Datsun (with a working heater) that cost $1000. And I worked full time for 3 of the 4 years.

And I am willing to bet I am far more educated that this twit.

Average student debt for 2015 was $35,051 -- much less than the MSRP of a nicely equipped Honda Pilot SUV. Most college students and their families have figured out how to obtain a college education without going overboard in debt.

I think that college is (or can be) vastly overpriced but any solution that the libs come up with would just make it worse. ("Law of Unintended Consequences") More money available for college tuition => more college administrators can be hired.

Considering she has an internship at the Dept of Commerce I’m thinking it is a step up from basket weaving.

Young men in STEM fields had better stay out of her clutches; it’s a thing for special snowflakes with 6-figure debt to seek them out.

Wait, "a 24-year-old college senior"? She's been in college for 7 years now?

I finished grad school at 25. So did my kid.

So she has an internship at the Commerce Dept. Means she a democRAT activist to boot.

How do you think Monica Lewinski ended up in the White House in the first place. It’s not like it was some meritocracy. It was because he family was connected to California democRAT party and senator Boxer in particular. Same goes for this nitwit. She’s not an intern at the Commerce Dept on merit, she’s connected by family to someone involved deeply in democRAT politics either in the DNC or local/state.

Yep, there are a bunch of them looking to earn a coveted MRS Degree.

My Wife’s step Brother met one in College while working on his Engineering Degree and he paid dearly for it.
