A recently released New York Times/CBS poll included headline-grabbing findings about America's evolving attitudes on gun control. The poll found that the number of Americans supporting a ban on assault weapons is 19 points lower today than it was after the shooting of former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and others in 2011.
Perhaps more significant, it found that the number of Americans supporting stricter gun control in general has slipped 7 points in just two months. While these numbers may come as a surprise to many, they shouldn't, because in the last few years the backbone of the gun control movement has been undergoing an evolution of its own. More and more women are buying guns. As the number of female gun owners has risen, so has the number of women expressing skepticism of gun control.

If YOU don’t watch out for your own personal safety and well-being, who will?
It would seem that women can see a lot in themselves that is well worth defending. A good deal of personal grief can be avoided by taking a few preemptive steps.
Carrying personal armament is just simple prudence.
I’m sure this much sought after gun ownership thing will turn around today when the NBA starts running their everytown gun control ads during the games with super important and super intelligent b-ball “stars” expounding their viewpoints. Or not. Shut up and “shoot” some hoops.
Merry Christmas alloysteel.
With the takeover of our organs of government by metrosexuals the concern has exploded on the front pages about our government and society no longer being willing to protect its citizens. Of course law-abiding has become a meaningless phrase because with the criminalization of any exercise of free thought, we are all criminals. That is what happens when law and government depart from the morality of its citizens, law and morality based upon the judeo Christian tradition and our common law heritage. Apparently these foundations of our society are dispensable in our headlong rush to embrace a faith that has not regard for individual liberties and freedom.
Well, some women want to stand tall. Others simply cower in the corner and wait for the “inevitable”. Uh, NO!
Merry Christmas corlorde.
Ironically, the liberals’ imasculation of men and urging of women to remain unwed and focused on their careers instead is a contributing factor to more women buying firearms.
Traditionally, women would rely on a man to protect them, but with so many single women who live and travel by themselves these days, it is not surprising that more of them are buying guns for protection.
The only problem I have is most women don’t take firearm ownership seriously. Most think of it as an accessory.
The way I look at it, one can never have too many guns. (I’m speaking of the law abiding, of course).
One can never have too much money or too many guns..
Add 1 additional female gun owner to the ranks. My 22 year old daughter just took ownership of a S&W 38 special snubbie.
You forgot toilet paper too.
Merry Christmas basil
Train, practice, train, practice, repeat.
Merry Christmas fatboy.
Because women look hotter with guns.
DUH!
;-)
Several years ago, my family member kept a pistol in her vehicle. The laws in that state changed, and that pistol was considered a concealed weapon under the new law. She then had to be licensed to keep that same pistol in her car’s glove box.
Rather than pay the penalty for a concealed weapon, until she could get licensed, she removed said pistol from her car. Shortly thereafter, she was car-jacked, kidnapped, and murdered...at gun point.
Indeed, and ESPECIALLY for women. Any father who does NOT teach his daughter to shoot, and buy her the carry weapon of her choice has done her a gross failure. If he can't teach her the necessary, see that she gets lessons from one who can.
“....when law and government depart from the morality of its citizens....”
.
Its citizens voted for Obama TWICE, for Pete’s sake.
What kind of morality is that?
My wife told me to buy another gun two months ago, and even suggested the particular one to buy. Thank you, dear.
Moms Demand Action? Real moms demand bolt action!
Lol! Many mothers, including myself, take our children’s safety seriously. That’s why we pack diaper bags and heat.
Let me guess: a 38 special Ruger LCR. Looks beautiful under any Christmas tree. And don’t forget to include a brick of .38SP ammo to make the gift complete. Include a laser to make the shooter more confident.
