US 90 runs thru San Antonio.
Thank you. Funny thing is, we never heard a sound from the tornado as it was passing by, even though it was relatively close by.
In the ten years we’ve lived here, this is the closest one’s ever come to us.
Not yet...anyone have 2ndDivisionVet ‘s phone number? I call him! private message it to me.
Trailer parks are like tornado magnets.
Terrible, weird weather.
Ironic in that “they” say you hear a roar. I suppose you have to be in the midst of it. For me, that’s way to close.
Got the great global cooling verses global warming battle going on in Texas. Tornados to the east and blizzards to the west. This should travel right up the polar jet stream and pay a visit to the Midwest.
It does not know if it’s summer or winter!!
WOW! Tornados are an ugly beast no doubt!
Ya, it’s a big state, then you get to Alberta which can fit Texas five times, ya, it’s ridiculous.
Tornadoes are the worst, especially in the dark.
“near the intersection of I-30 and I-90”
Idiot reporters never research. There is no I-90 in Texas.
Latest news indicates those deaths occurred when the cars were blown off of I-30 and fell to the access road below.
I was a kid in Dallas during a tornado in the 50s. I saw it pass over Backman lake. Scary.

That would be Bachman Lake.
I, too, was in Dallas for that tornado. Several of us guys climbed to the roof of our elementary school (Cowart) in West Oak Cliff and watched the tornado cutting its path of destruction. The mom of a couple of my friends then called us down and drove us all to the area just East of Sunset HS where we saw the destroyed theater and other damage. It wasn’t just rubberneckin’, she was trying to find her sister who lived in the area. All turned out to be good.

Being that I’ve never been to Texas if you guys did not tell me that I would not know! Strange too, I thought the news agency that reported this was in Texas!
At least during they day you can see it, at night once you realize what is going in it is too late. Prayers for the families.
Checking in from Collin County. I heard a lot of bad weather going on out there, but I was safely tucked in. Lots of flash flooding, too, I understand.
Midlander checking in from Albion MI. Cloudy, wet and relatively warm.
Hope my kittie back in West Texas stays warm; she hates the snow.
Happy New Year, y’all!
My daughter was right in the middle of the tornadoes in and around Dallas last night. All the power was out and she hunkered down in a small apartment. A lot of praying from both us that it not her last day on earth. She never lost cell phone connection and I kept telling relaying information to her from the Weather Channel. It lasted about three hours. She was scared but came through fine. First time she’d been to Dallas. A couple of weeks ago she was in Portland, Oregon during all the flooding. She lives in Portland.
About hearing the roar, one I did, one I didn’t. I think it depends on the terrain and what’s on it.
Yep - been through a tornado that went through Altus AFB in early '80s - made a real mess and moved/destroyed some things that seemed like they were indestructible.
In the dark, they probably had just enough warning to know that the S was about to HTF - we saw winds go from 0-70 or so in a few seconds, with a few chunks of ice falling from the sky (close to bowling ball size after 45 minutes of golf-ball hail before the "calm before the real storm) and 15 seconds later, everything rumbled and the world changed big time.
Prayers up for their loved ones.
