Nato is moving Airborne Early Warning and Control System (Awacs) surveillance planes to Turkey to protect the country's airspace amid growing friction with Russia. The alliance is deploying the Boeing E-3 Sentry system as part of its defence package to Ankara over the simmering Syrian crisis.

Germany has dispatched several surveillance aircraft to the Turkish city of Konya, the ministry of foreign affairs and the ministry of defence told the parliament. However, the number of troops and aircraft to be deployed was not revealed.

"Since Germany provides 30% of all personnel, our armed forces will clearly also be affected by the move," a spokesperson for the German ministry of defence said. According to a statement issued by the two ministries, the planes were sent from the Geilenkirchen airbase to Turkey.

All NATO Awacs currently fly out of Germany, and canpatrol as necessary from there.

This move is designed to give Turkish bases protection by stationing German NATO troops/aircraft there.

And by the way to collect hundreds of terabytes of ELINT about the radar, radar defense, and communications systems used by both sides.

This is bad. Turkey would love to provoke something and drag us into a conflict with Russia.

Yep.

They want all they can get on the new Russian stuff.

This is the latest thing they will have to face: Russian anti-air Tor-M2U firing on move

NATO surely realizes Turkey is also one to be watched, not just Russia.
What goes on in the air as well as what’s going on on the ground .. Like ISIS oil tanker destinations, weapons and troop movements.

Turkey has no business being in NATO. And neither does the USA.

Anyone ordered to shoot at a Russian plane should refuse.

Our government runs in such a Byzantine manner at this point, I have no doubt we will end in the same way.

Isn’t Turkey putting ISIS oil on the market? Aren’t they supplying arms and sanctuary to those vicious, murderous junkies? Didn’t Kerry make a deal with Putin to leave Assad in power?

I can’t keep track of this disaster. It’s very confusing.

Or, is this a deal NATO made with Turkey? They will stop the Islamic migration from their shores to Europe, if we threaten Russia with our presence.

Russia has threatened only economic sanctions on Turkey, or retaliation IF TURKEY VIOLATES SYRIAN AIRSPACE or a Russian aircraft in SYRIA

Now how is AWACS going to “prevent” an incident? By controlling Erdogan?

TURKEY IS THE AGGRESSOR HERE
and Erdogan is nuts

Ahh, no, they don't.

NATO's mission is to impose Islam on Europe while protecting Western crony capitalist interests and Homo NWO legal systems.

If there was a shoot-down, Buckwheat would yawn, and Putin knows it.
(Russia would blame the Turks, knowing we would not respond, further embarrassing us).
