Obamacare Is Sucking Up To 10% Of Americans' Incomes
Zero Hedge ^ | 28 December 2015 | Tyler Durden

The latest dilemma facing economists is why "unequivocally good" low oil prices haven't sparked excuberant consumer spending across America. We have discussed the simple (though awkward for the establishment) answer many times - soaring costs for 'shelter' and healthcare have hoovered up every penny saved (and more); and now, a new study proves it- exposing the reality that many Obamacare customers pay more than 10 percent of their incomes toward coverage (and some paying considerably more).

The shocking findings show that, as CNBC summarizes, One in 10 Obamacare customers who earn between just two and five times the federal poverty level will have coverage costs that exceed 21 percent of their incomes, an analysis by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Urban Institute found.

That is shocking! The smartest man ever assured us that the average family of four would save $2500 a year on Obamacare. Who would have guessed that the most powerful communist in the world would be wrong. Again. And that socialism would cost the average person a lot more money. Again. This is so unexpected!

Since the stats are coming from Liberal foundations I would surmise that the final push for Single Payer has begun.

Obamacare is just another gigantic welfare program funded directly by wage earners who participate under the threat of fines today, prison tomorrow.

If you like it you'll LOVE the government's fixer global climate change.

Does the statistic include what it’s costing people for their copays when they use their insurance?

“10%. Try 20%...”

Exactly, if it were 10%, it might actually be good.

Obama care forces people to buy crappy health insurance that they can’t afford. What a deal. Even my insurance through work cost me $360 a month (no telling what the company pays) with a $3000/$6000 deductible before they pay a penny.

“Health care providers are getting a boon.”

Of course they are. The providers were at the table when the law was written. It was commonly understood that the big mistake Clinton made with HillaryCare was their failure to get the health care providers on board. The providers spearheaded the opposition to HillaryCare.

FWIW, the architect of the British single payer systems attributed his success in writing those laws was the fact that they got the providers on board.

Now, there’s a clue in all that. All the attempts to get ObamaCare repealed are doomed to failure. Don’t care who controls Congress or who sits in the White House. The first step in repealing ObamaCare is to get the healthcare providers on board with repeal. Rubio’s amendment removing the risk corridor subsidies are an example.

You’ve got that right.
Premiums have doubled since 2009 when I Obola usurper office.
Deductibles are commonly $1500+ for single, $3,000-6000 for families.
Insurance medical providers have significantly narrowed.
Going to to doctor has become more of a difficultly in more ways than one.
And that was the goal of the ACA.
Legislation that was intended to usher in single payer gov’t healthcare.

Every time we hear the government say they're going to "fix" something, they fix it; much like one fixes a horse race.

I posted this was going to happen long before it happened. It is going to eventually ruin the economy along with taxes and hyperinflated property values. The house of cards can NOT stand.

I told a very good friend of mine in 2010 (a lefty) that once Obamacare fully kicked in, it would behave in the marketplace like an enormous tax increase. And that the results would be the same.

He wonders why he can’t find a job, btw.

Just wait until the states that have granted the Medicaid expansion start seeing their bills after the feds are done with their share.

I remember reading, about 5 years ago, that those that should be screaming the loudest about Obamacare are the Education lobbyists. Medicaid and education funding (including state colleges) flip flop in most state budgets as #1 and #2. But Medicaid is MANDATORY spending, while education is discretionary. Meaning: Medicaid will get its money while schools will go begging...unless the taxpayers agree to huge property tax hikes.

What. A. Mess.

Sucks up way more than 10% of my income.

Been thinking I’ll have to move, file bankruptcy and drop off the grid for 10 years.

After that, who knows? The world is going to be a very hostile place to live in.
