It Has Come to This (Donald Trump, for all of his flaws, must do.)

The United States of America that we grew up in, and in some cases fought for - no longer exists. I would like to write something stirring in defense of our Constitution, but it isn't under attack. It is simply ignored.

-snip-

I am tired of being told by Barack Obama on the one hand, and Bill O'Reilly on the other, what my American values are or ought to be. I can work those out for myself. I am tired of living in the dumping ground for whatever group of hostile immigrants the social engineers in Washington import to ease their guilty consciences. Let them move their Mexican underclass and angry Syrian colonists to Martha's Vineyard or Marin County north of San Francisco.Maybe this would help our legislators and "opinion makers" alleviate a bit of their never-ending narcissistic angst.

-snip-

To be quite honest, I have no particular love for Donald Trump -- but he is what we have. He doesn't speak well. I don't think he has any idea what a republic is. Then again, his last two predecessors didn't really understand the concept of a republic either. No doubt it's not a word they use at Harvard. Although I may not especially like the erratic, often juvenile Mr. Trump, it isn't lost on me that he at least doesn't hold me in contempt.

-snip-

I would prefer to have a genuine conservative candidate to vote for, and will probably vote for Cruz if he looks viable enough. But if Donald Trump is what it has come to -- I will happily take the risk and check the box next to his name.

Exactly. Trump, for all his flaws, is the only one who can trump Hillary.

Yes and four years ago we were told, "You have to vote for Romney. He's the only one with a chance of beating Obama." I'm tired of being told to vote for the RINO flavor-of-the-month because otherwise it'll be gloom and doom. I want to back a conservative for president, and if at the end of the day Ted Cruz doesn't win then at least I'll be able to say I voted my conscience and supported someone I truly believed in.

What is in it for him?

There is only one thing for a sane man who has achieved what he has - the reputation of history - to attempt to join the list of great presidents that includes Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Lincoln, Regan and some others who have led this country out of a desperate plight and into a brighter future.

If we don't establish some basic competence, taking the country from the left and their collaborators in the GOPe, we won't have a country.

Or compromised their power in their lust for getting rich, which I think is getting closer to the truth. Watch GOPe. They don’t WANT power, they certainly don’t want to use it. They just want a piece of the action.

Love him or hate him, the man speaks the darn truth from the gut, nor censored, not filtered by PCness and in your face, something VERY refreshing after 8 years of News-speak and a rudderless nation.

He's raw, tough, damning and is the ONLY candidate that is invigorating this race.

He is the ONLY one who seems to be rolling up his sleeves with a “can do”, “get the job done” attitude.

He loves the nation, he loves the troops.

None of the others have demonstrated these qualities.

More importantly, he's tough and will keep our enemies guessing, not like the leprechaun in the White House today...

C’mon Donald. Enough about the polls, your financials and the wall. Getting very repetitive.

Deepen and broaden your message. Raise your rhetorical target in a way that captures the hearts and emotions of many many more people.

I believe you are the man for the job. But I continue to shout in my head as I hear you speak, missing the opportunity to nbroadcast a message of American Exceptionalism, Family, Faith, constitution, Rule of Law, Limited Government, Liberty and Leadership in the world.

Are you high? The Clinton campaign machine will roll over the scandal/sound bite-rich Trump campaign within the first 30 minutes after it flips the switch.

Can’t take credit, someone on the Net said it best: Donald Trump is this country’s last, best chance at a bloodless Revolution.

NONE of our problems will be fixed until Mothers STOP KILLING THEIR BABIES!!! It’s the Holocaust to end all holocausts!! And EVIL to end all evils!

Compulsory abortion will probably follow, just like China, especially if said young mothers are performing their obligatory "Universal National Service" AKA: "The Draft".

What is in it for him?

Ego. Same as any other person who runs for the presidency.

Let's not pretend that Trump is doing this out of any sense of altruism or a desire to give back. He's in it for the power and the recognition and because his massive ego and runaway narcissism is driving him. He's no different from the other candidates in that respect.

> “To be quite honest, I have no particular love for Donald Trump — but he is what we have. He doesn’t speak well.”

He speaks just fine.

He speaks extemporaneously, from the heart and understands what a republic is just fine.

He’s also very smart and more importantly, he’s quick to see the con. He’s ivy league smart and he’s street smart. It’s the ***street smarts*** that the “E.M. Cadwaladr”s of the media moron group don’t have and never will have that they can’t understand and will never understand.
