I personally don't believe in the situation where there's this dungeon and a bunch of little minions poking people forever and ever and burning them. You know, that's inconsistent with the character of god. And that's not what the bible says.

That is not what Jesus said about it. He said it is where “their worm never dies and the fire is never quenched.”
The Bible is clear that hell is a literal place or state of conscious, eternal suffering.
If you read the article, Carson doesn’t believe in Dante’s rendition of hell.

Hell is a dark solitary confinement away from God, not a dungeon presided over by leering demons. Demons are in solitary confinement too.
It could be interpreted that way.
“Secret Rapture” is an idiotic term, anyway, used by non-believers who cannot comprehend nor believe the Scriptures.

The SDA believe in the false doctrines of soul sleep and annihilationism. Basically they believe that all who die remain unconscious until the final resurrection and the saved go to Heaven and the unsaved are destroyed.
