All the above is right... when a politician beats expectations he can claim a victory....if a politician is heavily favored and just squeaks by it goes as a loss. This may not be fair but it is certainly true. The landscape is littered with people who won Iowa and then disappeared into oblivion. In the last six elections only one person won Iowa and went on to win the election, Geo. W Bush in his second term. A sitting President winning with no real serious contender is hardly surprising or brag worthy!!
