The CVN’s skipper probably began launching helo’s to pick the crew up from the disabled boat. I would guess that if they didn’t have a tanker on station that they launched one of those and a couple of fighters to cover the rescue as well.
But this is just like a “man overboard drill”. A task force would just react automatically to the situation.
If the officers in command showed any backbone or lack of submission at all, they will be fired.
They'll display the boats for "war-prize" propaganda, like the Norks did with the USS Pueblo. Then New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson will visit the Iranian display.
It should have acted provocatively. It should have launched all of it fighters and levelled some nice Iranian cities.
Further proof our standing ROE have been neutered by Bambi.
The CTF should have fired on any IRGC forces approaching our vessels.
Turning into the wind, putting on steam, and launching several dozen aircraft...that's provocative.
