On "The Kelly File" tonight, Charles Krauthammer and Megyn Kelly praised Donald Trump for defending "New York values" at tonight's Fox Business GOP debate.

Really? In what part of NY have you paid taxes, patronized, and experienced firsthand the statism you speak of?
Staten Island split the vote in 2012. Is that where you’re from?
Itâs liberal, but not extremely liberal.
5 to 1 liberal, according to post 52. That’s extremely liberal.
Yep, agreed. As a NY'er myself who likes Cruz, while watching the debate with a fellow conservative NY'er who likes Trump, my first thought was why Cruz was trashing New York as 'hopelessly liberal' instead of trying to convert NY to common sense pragmatism such as Reagan did in 1980 and 1984.
Cruz was pushing buttons and then kept pushing them some more with his ugly screed, such as that idiot John Rocker did in the sports realm years ago.
Trump was right to call it an insult, and it was.
*We* know how screwed up NYC is politically, but we don't need to be reminded of it ... particularly from a POTUS candidate who hopes to win the state. I'm still for Cruz, but he really needs to tone it down and present a more positive outlook on how his policies might change things for the better.
How does that parable go?
You can attract more Bees with honey than you can with vinegar
Reagan understood this, and it's why he won New York twice. Ted Cruz could learn something from Reagan.

I lived in Ann Arbor during my college years (my Freeper handle is in need of an update), and I would not get offended if a conservative candidate used “Ann Arbor Values” as a pejorative.
5 to 1 against Romney?
Hardly a test for conservatism.
That is how it is. Trump knew that from the start. They only respect power.
You have a point.
No. The front line on terror is in the sandbox. 9/11 was awful and I don’t think it should be politicized. BTW,my cousin was a NY cop for 30 years who retired right after 9/11. I saw the smoke and know somebody who died in the Towers. Cruz was not the perp but the Saudis who fund the Madras’s have never paid the price for that day. They should.
I live in Ct now. Ct values SUCK! I am a 64 year old redneck conservative who grew up in the city, was once proud to call myself a New Yorker but no more. A Great Society cesspool dominates most of the boroughs now while the money men on Wall Street where my Grandpa tended bar are for the most part limo liberals and corporatists in bed with politicians.
There are millions of good folks in New York but they are overwhelmed by the lefties. A shame.
I live on Long Island. I frequent NYC. The tristate area including PA is a significant part of my life. And while the election results are too often disappointing in these areas, the effective demographics are not as lopsided. Nonetheless, it’s a battle.
Queens. 34th Road and Broadway. Other side of the tracks from Trump. New York enough?
My family has been there since Great, great Grandpa got back from the civil war. Many of my cousins still live in and around Astoria by Steinway Street.
Manhattan split the vote as well. The split was 85% Obama and 14% Romney.
So why piss on NY with that heritage?
I can't stand liberals either.
The dratted New York Times has been in NYC far longer than your parents have been born.
Bill Clinton is from Ark.!
Spare me your biased, uneducated spewings.
Not pissing on it. Just telling the truth. Why does the Bronx vote 93 to 8% for Obama? You know why and so do I. Because the Great Society destroyed the urban family and now they are multi generationally dependent on government. A case study in the failure of government both federal and local. I am not pissing on the enslaved but I will gladly piss on the enslaved.
93 -6.
enslavers is the final word
And damned Nanny Bloomy is from Mass. !
Much ado about everything. New York State isn't completely composed of airhead liberals who worship at the alter of political correctness because it makes them "feel good about themselves" .. believe it or not, there are a whole lot of conservatives in NY State, and yes there's even quite a few within NYC (Staten Island, anyone?) and also within the suburbs of NYC - Long Island, Westchester - the main problem is that NYC proper and its surrounds has a vast amount of population of the liberal bent, as compared with the larger NY State, and these are the voters who put the Cuomo's, the Clinton's, the Obama's, the Schumer's into office.
The wonderful city of New York, even after 9/11, twice voted for Obama, elected Cuomo as their stateâs governor, and made a Marxist idiot their mayor.
What a mess!!! I agree.
Cruz should worry about what they think? Screw âem.
I believe that Ted Cruz should worry about what NY'ers think ... if he wants to be anything like Reagan, he would cull our trust, assure that he's with us, and talk directly to those NY'ers who would support him ... there are many of us ... we're not all a bunch of dope smoking hippies here in NY !!! /lol
