So many movies today are just left-wing white guilt masturbation fantasies...

There boring because thier so predictable ...

What going to hold your interest if ever movie you see is all just variations on same collection of stereotypical cartoon straw-men doing to same old dance... we seen it...

It just become a light weight version of your daily two minutes of hate... courtesy of Hollywood .

Actually production budget was 44 million, and it’s doing fine. Quentin’s movies don’t generally blow up the box office. And it’s a fine movie, if you’re into that goofy Quentin stuff. He has a pre-selected audience. If this movie is having a problem it’s that it doesn’t have a lot of appeal to the black audience, and that’s usually one of his bigger demos.

I'm with you "called my own boycott".

We walked out of Django because it was so pointlessly gory and vowed never to watch one of his films again. Stuck to it too.

Did you see it? Did anyone on this thread actually see it? I highly doubt it. Just smelly opinions I think.

Actually production budget was 44 million, and it’s doing fine.

You also have to include the promotional budget to get the real cost. And keep in mind that studios in general only get half the box office, the rest being kept by the theaters. So a film must do at least double it's total cost to make a "profit". I put profit in quotes because due to Hollywood accounting all films lose money.

The studio take slides and is very high in the beginning, generally close to 80%, and drops, it “averages” to 50% except that the big percentage is when the movie makes the most money. Over the life you’re generally looking at closer to 60 or 70% going to the studio. He’s also pulling pretty solid in international. And Quentin has the loyal group of followers, it will do great in blu-ray. Reports of this movies demise are quite definitely imaginary.

I’ve read that internationally the studio take is significantly less, as low as 25% in China. Do you know if this is true?

I saw it. Loved it. But it’s very Quentin. If you ain’t into the Quentin thing there’s nothing there for you. If you love watching actors chew on Quentin dialog for 5 to 10 minute monologues it’s awesome.

It varies DRASTICALLY. Some countries don’t even have chains to negotiate with. In general theaters in other countries aren’t as willing to get screwed by the studio as as the chains here, competition isn’t as fierce so studios don’t have as many options. The one thing to know for sure is the Weinsteins will be more than happy to fund Quentin’s next movie. Given the numbers already in for this one the worst case scenario is modest success, which are really the words they built their empire on. The Weinsteins don’t make blockbusters, but they do make profits, generally more than the guys who make blockbusters because they don’t spend as much.

It was sometime during the past 2 years when Harvey Weinstein said he was going to stop producing violent movies and even make a film with Meryl Streep that would take on the NRA to destroy it.

Indeed, it’s a scene chewer, like Tarantino’s better ones.

You have no right to call it a lousy movie without seeing it. That’s just idiotic.

I like westerns. Don’t particularly care for Quentin. Hence I wouldn’t spend a dime, (let alone $8.50), to see his interpretation of the west. Would rather watch Fist Full of Dollars for the umpteenth time.
