Using heroics in a New York crime to make the point that New York City doesn’t have New York Values?
While crime is everywhere, there is no question that part of NYC’s current crime wave is part of its New York Values being played out.
alternative headline:
Lifelong Liberal Voters Prove Cruz Correct about NY Values.
If the majority of New Yorkers had conservative values they wouldn’t be living in a Nanny State.
So why does Cruz take money from the big “Nanny State” Banks?
Banks give loans...
NYC is what it is, notwithstanding 9/11.
Hmmmm. The article doesn’t address the specific components of what Cruz referred to as NY values. My memory is that he stated the commonly held opinions in NY over gay marriage, partial birth abortions, and gays in the military.
I’m glad for the basic humanity and random acts of kindness in NYC. They clearly show compassion and basic human “helper” genes. These random acts of kindness are commonplace in flyover country, and no attention is sought for them. But, they are not values - they are character and integrity.
But, will NYC ever recognize that they are outside the prevailing thought regarding values? Oh, Cruz wasn’t criticizing their awkward values, he was merely observing that they are different.

Posting from the NY Daily News should come with an automatic Barf Alert.
I guess you have to be here every day to see New Yorkers helping each other. Every day an ambulance is called because someone had a heart attack, tripped and broke a bone or simply fell ill; then you see New Yorkers and their values. Calling police, ambulances, staying by the sick person and telling them “it’s gonna be alright. Just be calm.” But you have to be there to witness it. If the only news you get about NYC is from old Charles Bronson movies, you are not going to learn much.
I so love it when an amateur thinks he's being clever when he really has it all over his shoes. First, the difference between Cruz and Trump is that Cruz actually REPAYS his bank loans, and Trump doesn't. Trump has taken much more money from banks than Cruz, and it was Trump, not Cruz, who supported TARP and all the bail outs.
You really managed to demonstrated incredible lack of awareness with your cute attempt to change the subject. Game set match. Drive safe. Thanks for playing.
Crime wave?
Staten Island IS part of NYC and the entire south shore, probably 300,000 people, probably recorded a handful of murders last year.
you can walk around at any hour, and i dont recall a crime on my block in the 17 years i’ve been here,
then what you’re saying is that liberals are indeed more compassionate than conservatives....you know, your wonderful fantasy population of Saints in NYC that vote 90 per cent liberal are better than the rest of the country.
Maybe you should just go ahead and admit you’re a liberal and liberal lover.
Post 10 is DELUSIONAL ping.
Their are Banks outside of the “Nanny State” and Banks not associated with big Wall Street Brokerage houses. Ooops ! Forgot his wife works for one of them.
Any idea how many on your block voted for DiBlasio? As I’ve stated elsewhere:
“Dear Lord, there are quite a few Freepers who suddenly don’t perceive nuance. Pre-Trump, these folks would have known EXACTLY what Cruz meant with his comment about “New York values” and would have agreed 100%.”
9/11 shouldn’t give NYC a free pass on its dismal socio-political record anymore than letting a John McCain off the hook because of his military service or his ordeal as a POW.
Cruz to slick by half thinks this will help him?
At least NYC can say it was pro-life, anti-illegal immigration and pro-law enforcement on 9/11.
