Between FR and local news (for traffic, weather, etc.), cable news has gone the way of the print media as far as I’m concerned.
He did so proudly (more than once); people who became familiar with Giuliani after 9/11 probably never questioned how a Republican could be mayor of NYC.
oh well.
you know, he was great for the position of mayor an that’s where it ended.
there should be more parties. the fiscally conservative/socially liberal party and
the fiscally liberal/socially conservative party.

When FReepers shred Chris Christie, many don’t understand that for NJ he is an extreme conservative for this area - certainly the best we could hope for, with all the right enemies. Unlike Giuliani (fiscal conservative, social liberal), Christie is conservative on both counts.
I think all of us who have left Fox have stories to tell of exactly what it was that pushed the off button for the last time. My appetite for Fox abruptly left me when “Megyn something or other” showed herself proudly with a backdrop of the desecrated White House splashed with rainbow colors. That travesty was followed by days of me having to listen to sanctimonious windbags tell me that unnatural marriage is now the “law” of the land and I should just drop it because SCOTUS does indeed have the Constitutional power to make law - somehow - in this case - whatever - just shut up about it.
It finally dawned on me that I had far more disputes than agreements with what I was hearing on that network. When you are yelling at the TV more than listening to it, it is time to turn it off. Things are much calmer for me now that I have restricted my air space to not include people who are peddling liberalism decked out in PC finery and cleaverly disguised as Fair and Balanced.
I know, I am down here in Texas and have a different take on what’s conservative than most on the east coast. I understand that Christie is conservative leaning for that area, but I do have to take issue with the statement that Christie is socially conservative. He is the governor who signed into law a bill that makes it a crime for a psychiatrist to help a gender confused child reclaim his God given sexual identity.
That is liberal and it is fundamentally wrong. After the years of research I have done into children and the dangerous effects that homosexuality has on their lives, I can tell you that anyone who would do that has a dark soul.

I don’t think he should have signed that either, but in my mind his unapologetic pro-life stance more than compensates for it.
That’s fair. We are on the same side in spite of some minor differences. I am pleased with anyone who speaks up for the unborn. The pro-life issue runs very deep indeed and liberals have much blood on their hands - they are covered with it, in fact.
I have made the gay issue and its damage to society a focus of my research lately and what I have learned is way beyond shocking. Christie played right into the hands of some debauched and cold-hearted manipulators, so, even though I understand and agree with what you are saying concerning pro-life issues, I still don’t like him. His refusal to stand up against the gay agenda will result in incalculable to children. It is an issue that, because of the powerful gay lobby, gets almost no light shed on it.
Again, I’m not thrilled that he approved it; it is a trend that is sweeping the country (the concept that homosexuality is incurable), and if I had a loved one that suffered from that illness I would want such programs available.
He isn’t perfect, but for NJ he is better than we normally get (including the “gay governor” Jim McGreevey).
Yes, I do agree about Christie being so much better than the usual for you guys. You must feel surrounded up there. I live in Austin and I feel surrounded by fools here. There seems to be no end to the wrongheadedness when you have a large population of liberals.
About an hour to the west (in NW NJ) there is still Americans living in America; people originally fled there, but the housing market isn’t doing well because you are pretty far from jobs.

Thankfully, there is at least some sanity in the area, even if you have to drive an hour. It gives you hope.
It does, as well as nice places for the kids (hiking, swimming, etc.).
