Ted Cruz‘s wife, Heidi, was once so depressed that a police officer wrote: "I believed that she was a danger to herself."

The incident happened in 2005 shortly after Heidi quit her high-powered job at the White House and moved to Austin, Texas, to be with her husband, who was state solicitor general.

Police responded to a 911 call about a woman in a pink shirt sitting next to an expressway and found Mrs. Cruz sitting on the ground ten feet from speeding traffic with her head in her hands.

Comments at yahoo are all over the place. Good grief.

As for depression, a high percentage of people have a single bout of depression after a trauma and moving (especially for immigrants) can be devastating.

http://www.nimh.nih.gov/health/statistics/prevalence/major-depression-among-adults.shtml

Now I am a country girl who was born in the Bronx, so going south or west is like going to heaven, but being here in the Northeast is like being in prison and I fight depression every day I’m here. Thing is, our nation is being attacked by a form of political immune system disorder and so no matter where we are we have to fight back.

Hey! Just read that to fight MS they have found that saving the person’s stem cells then going through chemo to kill the immune system then replacing their own stem cells has rebooted their system. SO, who will we elect to reboot the system by CLEANING OUT THE MUTATED POLITICIANS?

I need a break.

As someone with a wife who has had similar problems, but for different reasons, I remain concerned and curious about the family dynamics in the Cruz household.

Both Heidi and Ted are type A and are pushing themselves at an incredibly high level.

I am now very concerned about heir emotional health, especially Mrs Cruz. I dont doubt their sincerity, their motives, their ability. But without realizing it, because they are both so intelligent and driven, they may be emotionally out pacing the physical ability of their bodies to keep up.

Where there is such inherent instability, there is potential trouble.

On the other hand, Donald Trump and his family seem to have air of calm resolve. Donald has passed all the tests and reached all the goals he set for himself. He doesn't need to prove anything to anyone.

It may not seem fair, but this story about emotional instability by Mrs Cruz is another reason for me to lean Trump vs Cruz.

I'm for both Trump and Cruz and this article is not up to the standards of FR.

This is on the order of when the Dems went after Laura Bush publicising the fatal accident she was in when she was young.

Not cool.

I think in the Trump family, Donald is definitely the alpha male. In the Cruz family, Heidi has... ambitions.

Having difficulties in life is said to be character-building and that it can make you a better person for having made it through tough times, so what’s the big deal?

No I’m not, I’m saying it is a fact of life and just because Cruz is your favorite, he is not immune to it.

We’ve heard about Jeb’s wife’s problems with customs, Rubio’s supposed affair, Melania posing nude, and so on.

Why would you think Ted’s family would be left out? That’s what our press does, dig up or invent scandals. That’s what political opponents do. Just a fact of life in election year.

Granted you might have a different perspective based on your experience and I respect that. However, it isn’t up to me to be unduly concerned about the dynamics of another family (extended or not) to the point that it colors my perception of the capabilities, history/record and my perception of his desire to serve. I have NEVER given such scrutiny to Trump (nor condemnation), and I’d expect the same for Cruz.

As for potential emotional instability and future trouble, I’d suggest that there’s plenty of that on the other side of the fence with the harridan Hillary and that two-dick Billy goat of a husband of hers to consider and fret about. As well, a GOP establishment Jeb who only speaks Spanish at home and cares more about “act of love” invaders than me or my grand daughters, or even a sweating little pig Rubio that wants to give my country away to a bunch of illiterate, incapable entitlement loser invaders.

What in Hell did you hope to accomplish by posting this?

First, a story based on an event 10+ years ago, Second, it is totally irrelevant to the current political race, Third, it continues to feed the cannibalistic frenzy taking place between Cruz and Trump supporters. Truth be told, I am leaning more to Trump but this article is garbage.

And by the way, General Francisco Franco is still dead, just like Scott Walker's campaign.

And hopefully this thread will join them.

PLS don't blame this on trump's supporters - i am a trump supporter this is too low to believe,

Absolutely....I plan on voting for Donald Trump if he is the candidate....but I or no one else knows which Trump we will get. The one of 3 or 4 years ago or the one running now. There is a question...but I know who absolutely who Hillary is!!!!

Please. If that’s the first time you have seen someone say that lately you haven’t paid a lot of attention.

Jim is well aware of what I think. He’s free to zot me at any time and we;re both good with it if he chooses to.

I remember one time I was depressed and I went out in the yard and sat on the ground. It’s called getting back to nature when a lib does it.

Of course we lived in the middle of nowhere, my husband wasn’t running for president and nobody saw me so it doesn’t matter.

How about a guy who was born on third base and thinks he hit a triple......one whose daddy gave him a “small” million dollar loan and then croaked and left him a few hundred million. Any one can be cool and collected when he nor anyone in his family has never faced an economical problem in his life. As I have said before I will vote for Trump but he is no Ronald Reagan and never will be!!!
