Trump was shocked that Cruz came out against ethanol subsidies because that's the only way you can win Iowa:

But he's very happy to announce an endorsement from Sarah Palin, who called to end ALL energy subsidies in 2011:

Asked Tuesday whether she supports the federal subsidy of ethanol, an always critical issue in the presidential nominating cycle, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin went one step further and called for the elimination of all energy subsidies.

"I think that all of our energy subsidies need to be relooked at today and eliminated," Palin told RCP during a quick stop at a coffee shop in this picturesque town tucked into the south-central Pennsylvania countryside. "And we need to make sure that we're investing and allowing our businesses to invest in reliable energy products right now that aren't going to necessitate subsidies because, bottom line, we can't afford it."

If she runs for president, Palin plans to make energy issues a centerpiece of her campaign and will tout her record as governor on restructuring the oil tax regime in Alaska and initiating a massive natural gas pipeline project, which currently remains in limbo.

Her emphatic stance against ethanol subsidies may ruffle some feathers in the nation's first voting state of Iowa, but it will also win her kudos from fiscal conservatives who praised former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty when, in a speech announcing his candidacy in Des Moines, he called for the phasing out of the federal subsidies that cost taxpayers about $5 billion last year.

Or would you rather have The Donald appoint him as Race Czar???

Do you ever let your words rattle around in your head before you type them?

"Trump actually wants federal regulators to force higher percentages of ethanol blended into gasoline. Again he wants big government to force it on American citizens."

Trump is actually more extreme than Obama on this.

Ethanol can be made from oil. The process is called cracking: transforms heavy molecules left after oil distillation into smaller molecules, one of which - ethylene - can combine with water and produce pure ethanol. Most likely, the cost of ethanol from such a process is higher than it’s production from corn.

Trump supporting ethanol is proof of one thing. And that is that he can be very stupid with taxpayer money. Because I can tell you what... It it were one of Trumps business that were operating without subsides... Well lets just say that such a business would never exist because it could not possibly be solvent. And when the bill for it all goes on the national deficit then it non productive in the end as well. Making ethanol uses more energy than is produced.

This issue is proof that Trump is not so brilliant as he thinks that he is and that there will be times of great ignorance and arrogance in a Trump presidency.

“if you want to beat the Left, then you need to rip a page out of their playbook”

No offense, but you do realize that beating the left with another liberal like Trump, just for the sake of “winning”, is still not winning a thing!

We might as well let Hillary or Sanders win since they both have the same policies as Trump, but are apparently a lot more honest about it than Trump.

It’s a disgrace and truly and disappointing day.

I don’t have a problem with her endorsement. I’m more angry with the timing. Trump has been rabid in a left-wing attack on Cruz for over a week, continues bashing him today, and Palin awards him with this?

And to top that off, Bristol refers to Ted as “mean”? Are you freaking kidding me?

At this point, I don’t care anymore. If any of you know of a decent company that invests in food/supplies for the coming disaster, please let me know. Our chances of saving this country are going down the toilet.

All is well. Sarah lost her credibility with conservatives today, was the only place she had any. No one who supports Cruz changed their mind today. She is now a reality star and that is all.

Nice deflection, please answer the question of how a conservative (I am assuming you consider yourself a conservative) can support a candidate that gave money to Sharpton and Hillary???

Trump has already spoken about this many times. It's about buying influence.

It's the same reason Cruz has accepted millions of dollars from trial lawyers, financial firms, & oil & gas lobbyists. They pay Cruz money, he pays them back as a sitting senator and perhaps president down the road.

No Iceman, your moral equivalence is BS and I think you know it. Trump gave money to Al Sharpton. Do you really think that is OK no matter what??? Cruz accepted money for his campaign with people that are more aligned with him. I don't think Cruz is perfect, but The Donald is no conservative and watching his demagougery work on Freepers really amazes me.

BTW, cute graphic, but leave the BS cheapshots to the other side of aisle...
