Anderson Cooper was excellent again tonight. He moderated a six-person panel of political commentators/spin meisters discussing the latest news and polls from Iowa and New Hampshire. Some were of the R brand and some of the D. Some were unaffiliated, at least officially.
The debate was spirited and enlightening. And... wait for it... fair. No cheap shots; no shouting at each other. A good reasonable back-and-forth. Very little bias from those that shouldn't show any. I will say that woman who used to be Ted Cruz's communications director is a master at turning any conceivable topic to his advantage. What's her name... Amanda Something? She tried to downplay the effect of the Palin endorsement, but the rest weren't having that.
After that, I hung around for Don Lemon (Leamon?) who had Trump on for a phone interview. He followed that up with a good discussion with Gloria Borger, and let me tell you, she's cleaned up her act considerably. She's not the openly obnoxious liberal she once was. I kinda think both she and Lemon are caught up in the Trump phenomenon. I'm sure it's a better story than Hillary. Lemon later had a piece and interviews on the D's, focusing on Bernie Sanders surge. It was evenhanded, not fanboy at all, but also not dismissive or disrespectful.
Then Lemon had some segment on a "hero who inspired him." I think that's a CNN series of segments on mentors. Anyway, his was Bishop T.D. Jakes. The interview was very, very good. Inspiring even.
This is not the CNN I knew and hated ten years ago. And since this is true confession time, I've switched to Morning Joe and by-God MSNBC for the morning news fix before work. It is nearly always excellent, although I have not picked up any diet tips from celebrity chefs or dog groomers in "man on the street" interviews. If that's your bag, stick with Fox and Friends.
He is ignored from here. No, nada, nothing. He is drowning and is attempting to grasp anything to keep him afloat. The name is one we would rather not discuss so will now zip the lip and keep quiet.

PS. I hate the term "evangelicals" because it is so vague as to what that means. I think it means white Protestants who don't do high church. Maybe you have to do Wednesday Night Prayer Meeting to be "evangelical."
