So then me then ?

Why is it such a bad thing of Ted Cruz’s wife working for Goldman Sachs such a bad thing among the Trump supporters but Trump being a Shareholder with Goldman Sachs isn’t ?

Trumps idea to tax the rich actually reflects how the federal government raised revenue after the country was established.
The rich alone use imported articles, and on these alone the whole taxes of the General Government are levied [emphasis added]. . . . Our revenues liberated by the discharge of the public debt, and its surplus applied to canals, roads, schools, etc., the farmer will see his government supported, his children educated, and the face of his country made a paradise by the contributions of the rich alone, without his being called on to spend a cent from his earnings.” - Thomas Jefferson to Thaddeus Kosciusko, 1811.

However, what wealthy people probably understood about Congresss limited power to appropriate taxes in the early days of the country has evidently not survived the generations.

More specifically, a previous generation of state sovereignty-respecting justices had clarified that Congress is prohibited from appropriating taxes for state power issues, essentially any issue that Congress cannot justify under its constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited powers.

”Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States.” - Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.

The consequence of low-information wealthy people not knowing about Congresss limited power to appropriate taxes is this. Wealthy people who bribe corrupt federal lawmakers for tax loopholes are probably unaware of the following likely scenario. Such lawmakers probably laugh all the way to the bank to deposit their bribes, knowing that they did not have the constitutional constitutional to make the appropriations bills that they put the loopholes into in the first place.

Remember in November !

So if patriots elect Trump, or whatever conservative they elect, they will also need to elect a new, state sovereignty-respecting Congress that will work strictly within its Section 8-limited powers to support the president.

Note that such a Congress will also probably be willing to fire state sovereignty-ignoring activist justices.

Why doesn’t he just pay more himself? Stop taking deductions. Stop writing off losses. Lead by example.

Sargent is so cute...

The Dem’s idea of taxing the rich: 50% tax on any household earning more than $150k.

OBVIOUSLY this bothers conservatives, along with any family living above poverty line near a big coastal city.

Trump’s idea of taxing the rich: Making people who earn “hundreds of millions of dollars” pay their fair share.

Does Sargent really think this will be a problem?

The estate tax is an unfair tax since the deceased already paid taxes on the money.

If you own any diversified mutual fund, guess what, you own Goldman Sachs. But they don’t own you now do they?

Never said anything about the estate tax. My personal view, if you want it, is that the estate tax should be gotten rid of entirely by the Federal govt.

If the States want to use it, I have no objection because it is within their purview to do it. Although I would not likely support it.

I believe in federalism.

BTW GR, The purpose and key word of that cut and paste was the term, “all over the place”.

The two views he expressed were in opposition.

Much earlier in 1999 he had this idea of a 15% wealth tax, a one time thing to get rid of the debt, but it was only 5 trillion then.

No person in Trumps position would support the estate tax, it’s a no brainer. he wants his heirs to inherit his wealth and businesses intact.

I’m still sitting back on this one (election).. This is different than I have seen in a LONG time...

The negative here is all of the childish hate being spewed from both sides for the two top contenders :/

Trump’s upbringing and his “values” are INDEED fair game. Let’s DO bring it up. Just like Bill Clinton and his pervie pal Epstein, or his dyke wife and her Muslim Brotherhood agent in place girlfriend. Let’s pray the FBI is not corrupted by the mack daddy coke freak in the WH and his real estate Iranian agent Jarrett.

This is fair game in a REAL world that all business people live and work in- or try to. Fair game:

Such as— the truth about Pres. Eisenhower’s investigation into Fred Trumps abuse of the FHA housing program for our WWII returning veterans, investigated by Mr. McKenna. Put that in one’s pipe for the “training” as regards the treatment of our Veterans. Covered in, no surprise, The Village Voice—

http://www.villagevoice.com/news/how-a-young-donald-trump-forced-his-way-from-avenue-z-to-manhattan-7380462

The Kelo case, with the heavy hand action of the billions Pfizer (the same Pfizer who bankrolled obamaumaocare and bought off the Congress and Justice Roberts— and that now wants to leave the US as HQ and set up in Dublin- that one) put into it with the subsequent ripped off land (now vacant and the owners destitute) through the courts and so-called Eminent Domain is absolutely disgraceful for any real conservative who believes in ownership of personal property and property rights. It is anathema to the Western revolution that is trying to take back family ownership of farm and ranchlands put under the all knowin all caring “protection” of the State, under BLM, Forestry and EPA control. For those who cannot take any more of the Soviet socialist system, which has been gamed... gamed by clever people— documented to have done this. People like Harry Reid and his punk-a@@ son with their solar farm for example.

This is but one part of what true conservatives should be measuring.
The utter ridiculousness of trump coming down on Ted Cruz for taking out a loan through his wife’s employer (Goldman Sachs) like any one else can do with a margin account is absolutely laughable for it’s lever of deceit. This man is OWNED by banks to whom he owe money-— hundreds of millions he “restructured” through giving up part ownership. Like father like son— it’s in his damn book. And this speaks to the level of corruption in both parties and in DC— that has to be stopped. Tammany republicans and Tammany democrats all get together at the same club. Not for much longer- and lest we forget obamaumao is going to stay in DC to continue his tyranny- if, in fact he doesn’t generate summer riots and martial law and stay in office.

“Trump will cause plague of frogs across the land?”

I wonder how he’ll pull that off! (somewhat like making the Mexicans pay for the wall.)
