Oh, and I think #1 is the best one.

The lawyer class has to go, has to be defeated.

I thought #1 was too vague. Being able to get things done is like “choice”: it’s good or bad depending on the object, not the verb.

And it is too early for wine, even for me.

No prob.

Being in business myself, I totally understand what was being said, and find it not vague at all. In a lawyer type politician, I would agree.

If you own a business, you either figure out how to get it done, and done correctly, or you do poorly. I like that trait.

I'm so sick of these unendorsements. These media types should pick a candidate and advocate for him/her rather than picking a candidate to tear down.

I know why they do it... And Sowell is one of my all time favorite thinkers.. but even he's been taken to the dark side on this one.

Our elites - our elite WRITERS - are people of thought. They would have a difficult time working with a contractor to put on a one-room addition. They could never oversee a sky scrapper being built or redo their own kitchens, start a business, or build a deck. They don't DO anything.

They think.

And Write.

And debate.

So they can't support their choice OTHER than to talk about their candidates 'ideas'... for them - the gold standard. "Does "X" hold the correct nuanced ideas - can he back it up in a debate setting?"

People tend to judge others based on their own best traits. An athlete would judge others on things like 'fitness'.. A builder on how others work with their hands... a Priest on how spiritually aware a person is... It's a human trait that allows us to put ourselves at the top of the heap - so to speak. One would hope when people become self aware that they would factor this bias into their thinking... but that's obviously NOT the case with the Nation Review Board...

That's what these writers are doing... (it's also why members of the press swooned over Obama after 'Dreams' was published. They actually thought he wrote it) is judging the people running by their own self imposed group think standards... And they don't 'get' Trump... or his backers.

The problem is the Office of President is more than a college debate society leader or a roomful of people competing for a Pulitzer. It's a CEO job - a Company President job... - a job for a man of action... and thought...

Proof? In the past 8 years we've elected OVER 900 Republicans and they haven't done squat. Nothing. Bupkis. Zero. Zip... They TALK. Period. Our borders are like sieve's. Our vets treated worse than terrorists at GITMO. Our country's bankrupt...

"If you own a business, you either figure out how to get it done, and done correctly, or you do poorly. I like that trait."

Makes sense.

Now make sense out of Trump's four bankruptcies (a.k.a. "Chapter 11 reorganizations"). Four in 25 years, that's a lot. And they involved a catastrophic accumulation of debts and liabilities which caused the failure of multi-million, even billion-dollar businesses.

Tell me how this is Trump "figuring out how to get it done."

I believe you nailed it.

Also, a good President or a successful Company President hires competent people to support him in fields he’s not expert in, not just yes men.

“What has Thomas Sowell ever done besides pontificate?”

Are you kidding me? Dr. Sowell is an 85 year old BLACK man. That means he was born in 1930 and lived his formative years in a very RACIST era. He has overcome much more than you can imagine.

There are some very good answers to your post.

I am choosing not to respond, as I don't think it will be helpful.

I appreciate the nice discussion with Tax Chick, and find her to be a rational Cruz supporter. Unfortunately there are a lot of irrational and nasty supporters on both sides. I find that unfortunate and distasteful.

Have a nice weekend.

Btw, until about three days ago, I preferred Cruz, and had since his announcement. I have now reversed my preference. I would still get behind him 100% if he wins.

Well, a tiny Ruction, anyway.

It’s no longer too early for wine, btw, but we don’t have any.

Not the slightest ruction from me in these posts. Unless declining to continue a discussion away from the thread topic counts.

It's still too early for me to have wine, but I've got some really good ones for dinner this evening.
