I was in Rio for the last couple of days of Carnival about 35 years ago.Pretty impressive...but my most vivid memory is that the guy got I chummy with on the plane (a Canadian doctor) was robbed of his camera right next to me.

Rio is,in places,a beautiful city but it's *definitely* Third World...100%!

The only Olympics to ever make money was Atlanta, and the organizers said “never again” to that model.

As of a few years ago, Montreal was still paying off debt from their summer Olympics from 1976.
