Trump plays the best game on the field. No question.
I prefer the second-best, Cruz, because he is ideologically conservative.
But I’ve got to hand it to Trump. He owns strategy. I just wish he were a stable reliable conservative.
What you’ve said is exactly my thoughts also. Cruz is smart, but I wish he and other true conservatives would learn from what is happening. One doesn’t have to betray who they really are but for crying out loud learn to adapt and modify The Donald’s tactics for future campaigns. Donald has invented a tool to fight the media and establishment — improvise and improve on it, magnify it, make it better. Someone invents something new — make it even 10 times better and run with it.
The difference between Trump, and all the rest, is that THEY aren’t playing with their own money! They are beholden to powerful deep pockets entities for their campaigning dollars. They have to figuratively “walk on eggshells” to avoid alienating any of their donors.
Trump, OTOH, is free to run his own campaign, beholden to nobody but God, for the air he breathes. He can stick to principle and self respect. So when it became apparent on Tuesday that, not only was Fox going to shove Muggin Kelly in his face on debate night; The word was out that they were bringing in 3 hired political assassins to take him out; A raghead, a latino and an Afro; Trump notified Faux that he was declining their invitation.
Don’t look for anything even close to Trump’s actions out of any of the others; not even Cruz, my second choice. They are politicians, one and all. And when the chips are really down, and things really get heated; 99.44% of politicians will automatically default to CYA Mode.
